The worst was a couple years ago when we wrestled at Oklahoma. That was a nightmare. No team score no riding time. Hopefully its better this year. Our ESPN + product for home duals is about 15x better than whatever in the world that was last night.

Agree. I think Van Ness is the clear favorite at 149, then it is pretty wide openBut he can definitely make a run to the finals at nationals. Looking at guys ahead of him, he’ has beaten Valencia and Styles. Others are Tyus, Joy, and Van Ness. I don’t think there is a guy there he can’t beat.
The other one that I was shocked from was Dean getting taken down. From what I see, that has reversed the last couple of years. For example, we hade four or five bonus pt wins last night against a ranked team.
Ech gave up the first take down last night. Then he put on a clinic. He is so fun to watch.![]()
I just watched this meet since I couldn't watch live. I am just a casual fan but I could have operated the scoreboard and clock better. They constantly tallied points to the wrong wrestler or didn't update at all and at one point at the start of a period with control failed to start the riding time clock - it wasn't home cooking because it was costing their wrestler time. Our wrestler got out after about 6-8 seconds and the RT clock never moved.
What an amateur operation. You'd think they would get operators who knew what to do or put someone knowledgeable next to them. Is it really that hard to look at a referee's fingers and wristband?
That wasn't the entirety of the problem. They had to stop one match because the scoreboard credited the wrong wrestler with an escape (if I remember correctly).Big difference between an "automatic" scorebug (like at ISU) and a manual one.
For ESPN+ duals in Hilton, everything on the bug comes directly from the arena scoreboard controls -- clock, match score, team score, RT.
ASU clearly had a secondary (manual) bug operator in the control room trying to keep up.
I don't know that they ever got the scoreboard right at the end before they reset for 125, but there must have been an escape otherwise the ref stopped it at 14 points instead of 15 when Yonger got that last take down. I would have to watch it again to be sure though.I am still trying to figure out if an escape was awarded in Yonger's match at the end. Thought they were neutral and then got a restart and put the ASU kid back down. Pretty sure the scoreboard had an escape up, so not sure if that was correct. Didn't matter in the end
Yonger never got the TF, only a major. 18-5I don't know that they ever got the scoreboard right at the end before they reset for 125, but there must have been an escape otherwise the ref stopped it at 14 points instead of 15 when Yonger got that last take down. During that whole thing didn't they stop RT for Yonger? Not that it mattered in the endNo escape. Szuba turned and engaged immediately, so there was no real separation. Bastida technically had control that whole time, which is why the restart at the end had him on top.
Somebody jumped the gun on giving Szuba the point, and then ended up giving him two escape points so the final score that showed (18-6) was wrong. Should have been 18-5.
Ah. That explains it. I did quick rewatch instead of live and assume TF but it was just over. Thanks.Yonger never got the TF, only a major. 18-5
I think they stopped Rt because they mentioned that he was a second or 2 short when they looked like they were in neutral. He ended up getting the RT point since they put ASU back downDuring that whole thing didn't they stop RT for Yonger? Not that it mattered in the end
