Rocco joining the Transfer Portal

Too soon to revive the "has the rot set in?" thread? :jimlad:

The range of emotions in this thread is all over the place. I'm typically a positive person in general so I moved on pretty quickly when Campbell left and I was going to be behind anyone that took the job next as they WANT to be here if they took it. Same goes with players that will come and go, it's all transactional at this point. I don't need some "heart felt" post on social media to make me feel better about their decision to leave. If they don't want to be here or play for the new coach then why should I care where they go. If I got a new boss at work that I don't want to work for then I'd probably start looking for a new job so it's the same thing. As fans we sometimes get too emotionally attached to coaches and players and thing they will be here for the long haul, but the college athletics landscape has changed dramatically in recent years with the portal and NIL and the days of players staying 4 years at the same school is becoming more rare and same goes with coaches staying for long tenures. We got 10 years out of CMC when there were times in the middle of that we thought he may take another job too. Chances are if Rogers has similar success at ISU that Campbell had we'll be worried about losing him some day too.
college sports are not anymore semi pro level

Blum gave good advice. Chill out. Wait. With every departure there will be a replacement. Rogers has done this.

Thank you Connor Moberly. You will have a great opportunity. I am hopeful Manske stays as well. The young players will have great opportunities to perform and become the new stars now that we have our older stars transfer. We can spread Rocco’s money on a number of good OL and DL players. The future is going to come down to money management and talent evaluation. With limited NIL you can not afford many misses.

I dont care to listen to Cyclone media members gush and cover for those that turned their back on ISU.
This 1000%. And to top it off you have people saying that we NEED to support these guys and they will always be Iowa State athletes. F that.. if you leave and go play for another collegiate team fine you do you but my support ends when you wear a different jersey.

I'm the same way. I can totally understand why he left, but I'll be damned if I'm going to root for him. And it's silly to say it shouldn't impact his legacy. He had a chance to continue playing college football here and he chose to play somewhere else. In my oversimplified way of thinking, that negates what he's done here. And I would have felt the same way about Brock, Georges, Breece, etc. if they'd chosen to leave as well.

Agreed, I know it doesn't make total sense but we're fans of a sports team we aren't always rationale. Staying for 3 years and leaving for your last year stings. I hope it was a hard decision for him.

In hindsight it’s kinda weird that Bill let him speak to the WBB team before the Iowa game, but it lends some credence that he hadn’t made the decision at that time.
I am guessing he committed to talk to the team before MC’s exit and kept his commitment to BF.

No. I’d wish them well. And tell them to call me when they get settled in to catch up. They moved, they didn’t die.

You can become close with the coaches while maintaining professionalism
So you're saying CW's unprofessional in his ISU sports coverage?

But...but...but there was a FULL PAGE AD!!

Maybe we should protect the ISU brand and support our loyal sons.

Unlike a coach who said one thing and did quite another

Could end up in Columbia MO. Both offensive coordinator and quarterback left.

Pribula left because the freshman Zollers took his spot.

I'd be pretty stunned if Mizzou brought in a qb

Edit: not so fast my friend, their 247 site seems to think they'll be qb shopping and zollers will be the backup. Don't see how that happens, he was a fairly high recruit with decent game film but I don't know that situation.
