*** Official Eastern Illinois vs #4 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

Just like last game, come out of halftime with a defensive effort that turns into a bunch of quick and easy points. Now bury them.

Man, you can really be free and aggressive on the defensive end when Buchanan can just stifle the play after everyone gets beat
Totally agree.

This is why TJ is proving to be elite at roster construction that matches his desired style of play. If you want to be as aggressive as he is on the ball you need a big that can recover and block/alter shots. It allows you to take calculated risks you'd otherwise not take. On a related note, it's why - having watched how Buchanan fits in - no one is that disappointed about not getting Cluff in the portal. He's a great player but doesn't "fit" the same.

This is one of many examples of why I love basketball so much. It's a big chess match strategically and players have so many ways of impacting the game without even touching the ball.

Perfect example is Toure's "steal" numbers. His pressure forces turnovers, bad shots late in the shot clock, offense being initiated too far out, etc. Same with that big that doesn't put up huge block numbers becaduse teams choose not to challenge him in the first place.

he has a great awareness for being able to wall up at times and to agressively swat at other times. he gets blocks doing both.
His defense down the stretch against St Johns while he was in foul trouble was one of the more under-the-radar impressive things I've seen in a while.

You gotta kick that out to Milan trailing right there, Josh.
