*** Official #10 IOWA STATE vs #1 Purdue Game(Day) Thread ***

How many turnovers did ISU have in the first half? I was listening on the radio and it sounded like about 10 or so. JJ had 4. I know Walters said Purdue had 11 points off turnovers at one point.

ISU ended with 12 and Purdue 13 points total off of them.
Turnovers were 9-5 in the first half and 3-10 in the second half.

Bolded is the lesson here.

That was a great chance for the group to go somewhere in the bright lights to get some work and film and that's probably about it.

True to a degree, but he does not look like the same player who was missing bunnies and a liability on offense. Defensive rotation and things like that take time to be a cohesive group. He looked about as good as 1st year Rob on offense in that game.

I’m not kidding when I say Cluff getting more money at Purdue is the biggest stroke of luck in Iowa State history. Got a better player in Buchanan and freed up enough money to keep JJ. Can’t imagine we could have done that with Cluff taking up two mill.
Honestly, I don't think tj could even play Cluff, guy is way too slow. And he would destroy any defense we have.

The guy I’m most impressed with is Toure. When they talk about Iowa State being a boa constrictor. He and Buchanan are the mouth of the boa.
Those two are huge additions, teaming with the Core 3 of Lipsey, Milan and Jefferson. There were some questions coming into the season because of the departed scoring and with a younger group but the upside of this group is higher than last years group. Team seems more connected and well balanced, less of those Gilbert drives into traffic or CuJo forcing too many shots and more team ball. It's refreshing to see

Which is the point.

You can't take one game as a definition for how things are going to be (that includes today), especially an exhibition game with new players playing together on the road in a game between coaches that are friends that probably involved TJ telling McD to give his guys some tough looks.
