Matt Campbell to Penn State??

2028 Nebraska plays Penn State. Who do you want to win?

I see this a lot like Hoiberg, I don't have any hate for Nebraska basketball because Iowa State, in the end, ended up with a better coach.

Hoiberg in Nebraska is the job he settled for after the one he left us for didn't work.. If Campbell fails at Penn State I'll root for him at the next job lol

Campbell with basically unlimited NIL funds for recruiting. The dude is going to be just fine lol
I'm actually very interested in his recruiting there. He requires a certain mindset from a recruit. Will he being willing to take more talented guys that don't 100% match his culture?

Can't blame CMC for going to Penn St. Let's be real, Penn State versus Iowa State, no comparison - more history, more resources, more recruiting pool, more media money, more NIL. He was great for Iowa State, stayed longer than I thought actually with his success. Wish him well.
I'm holding that thought until I see our players stay put. I can't imagine Penn State fans want him bringing players from yucky, pitiful Iowa State. But what other kids does he know?

I can totally see why he did it. But just like Fred, Chizik, Greg, etc. I wont be rooting for him. I hope he falls on his ass there.
I wouldn’t go that far, but I’m also not rooting for him. He did an incredible job here and I’m thankful for that, but I cheer for Iowa state, not the coach, so why would I cheer for him going forward. Especially when there isn’t some reason that Penn state is super special to him and I find Penn State fans to be completely obnoxious. The only thing I wish him well at is dealing with those boosters.

Edit: I’ll also enjoy giving him **** when he goes apeshit because a call doesn’t go his way
What will that do?

Looking on twitter/social media will get about the same takes/information.
And why do it now when it technically isn’t official yet (so theoretically he could come back) and you’ll just need to do one later.

Plus, unless you release it live, the information will be old news because it takes time to edit.

That's true. Plus he was leaving for the NBA. If Hoiberg had gone from Iowa State to anywhere in college basketball, it would have been worse.

It's the primary reason he was a perfect fit here. It won't work as well there, but it won't have to, either.

I know many here will be sad and or angry. But Matt’s making a life decision he felt was in his and his family’s best interest. I can’t be upset at him for a personal decision.

I would like to thank Matt for everything he has done at Iowa State. Not just on the field, but also teaching his players life off the field is more important than one the field. We have many examples of players using their NIL money to give back to communities. He has recruited great athletes but even better people.

JP made an absolute home run hire with Campbell. Let’s hope he can make back to back home runs

If it's true, it does suck, as this has easily been the best 10 years of Cyclone football that we've had in my lifetime as a fan. But at the same time, he gave us that and left the program in a way better place, and I'll be eternally grateful for that.

IMO, his staff is so thoroughly embedded in the culture and type of program he runs that I think it could be continued on by hiring from within and retaining a bunch of them (assuming he doesn't take them with him).

More history for sure! Probably the worst history ever in college football!
