I didn't get to see the Grand View Open match between P-nut and Coby. Whose corner was Perry in for that, anyone know?CRTC coach I think. He’s also coaching commits at tournaments and other matches (Merrill, Mastny).

Hey, one other thing - despite the win, TOE wrestling isn't dead. They have a bunch of studs coming to campus the next two years. Hopefully, they were all watching yesterday and come to their senses, but if they all get on the mat, they're going to be a problem. Hope they all have Bassett's phone #.I just finished reading through all 39 pages of this thread. I was at Hilton yesterday and I can't think of a better match that I've seen in person. A few observations:
I thought, overall, the referee was pretty good, although the stall on MJ at the end was awful. I felt like I knew when the stall calls were coming for the most part although Keuter and Bailey deserved more calls against.
I thought I saw Tom come over at the end to shake hands. Other than him continually running outside the mat control area I thought he was pretty subdued most of the meet. I don't understand how he continually gets away with running around like that. And I didn't notice that the Iowa team wasn't on the floor at the end, but It's probably all for the best TBH.
Really disappointed in Paniro. I was hoping he made a real change in his style but he reverted to old Paniro when the pressure was on. Ride or die with Jacob.
Of the two, we have become the aggressor. Credit to KD, Metcalf and St John for teaching the right way and entertaining way and recruiting kids who want to wrestle their best. Honestly, we haven't been able to say that for 40 years until the last 2 or 3 years.
So happy for all the former Cyclones who didn't get to experience a CyHawk win of their own. Gadsen, David, Coleman and many many others.
So proud to be a Cyclone!
He is lightning fast when he chooses to hit something. A duck under or slide by probably would be his best opportunity with somebody like that. He didn’t really take a shot except for one really long ankle dive.Lots of criticism of Paniro here but I wonder what he might have done otherwise with an opponent half a head taller who continually blocked his shots. One of the announcers (probably Rock Harrison) mentioned that Ech (also a short guy) was "wrestling in his phone booth" (I think that was the phrase)--and obviously having success with that.
They also have to pan out. Chittum and Swiderski were high recruits.Hey, one other thing - despite the win, TOE wrestling isn't dead. They have a bunch of studs coming to campus the next two years. Like, oh I don't know, spitballing here...for possible gang r*pe ?If wrestling didn't exist, I'm pretty sure the Brands Bros would likely be in prison.
Iowa's room takes Diamonds and turns them into lumps of coal. They also have to pan out. Chittum and Swiderski were high recruits.
You must not like tough wrestlingIowa's room takes Diamonds and turns them into lumps of coal.
Ferrari wins 2-1 then starts gesturing to crowd like his brother.
Team score 17-14 ISU with one match to go.
I'd tell you my opinion of hawk wrestling fans and coaches, but I better defer.
Funny. But it's ESPN. 100% incompetence.Caught this on my rewatch today. ESPN disrespecting them with the wrong logo.
I mean, after that performance yesterday, I'm sure Iowa fans don't mind it lol. Money well spent, Bob.Caught this on my rewatch today. ESPN disrespecting them with the wrong logo.
Imagine him being the welcome guy at Walmart.
Him vs Yonger are some of my favorite battles. Love having him in Ames. It's great to have Rocky on our side now. Absolutely hated when we had to wrestle him because he's just that good.
Personally - My 2 cents is PJ was shooting (more that Block) but he didn't really use any setups that I saw. Just shooting straight on from space. I was watching for any type of setup and I didn't see anything... No head pull/snap and go, no misdirection. His best opportunity came from a shot that he wasn't able to penetrate on but he was able to get into a body lock position. Unfortunately he didn't look very confident in that position (like Ech is). Ech is full send with no fear in that position virtually every time. I'm sure JP wishes he would have gone for broke and elevated for the throw in that position. Also, Block didn't shoot a lot which takes away PJ's re-attacks and makes for his typical close matches.Lots of criticism of Paniro here but I wonder what he might have done otherwise with an opponent half a head taller who continually blocked his shots. I would sell my Walmart stock.Imagine him being the welcome guy at Walmart.
You must have been out of the country during the Sanderson wrestling & coaching years. Those teams were really good and top 5 ranked.I just finished reading through all 39 pages of this thread.
