Beat Iowa Dual Thread

When I saw the news that Rocky Elam had committed to State I was absolutely shocked. Talk about a plug in a hole which is 197. Now that I have seen him in our beloved colors he is just totally the man. Buckle up cuz it is going to an amazing ride. GO CLONES

Maybe this was thoroughly talked about and I missed it, but rewatching the matches over Kennedy definitely locked hands in a way that was clear and easy to see. Maybe challenge was "late" but it totally happened. So many lucky breaks went Iowa's way as they lost, especially in that match they lost.

It's almost immediate at the start of the first tie breaker, practically on the whistle he locks hands very intentionally with MJ still on his base.

It’s kind of fun to listen to the narrative that Dresser is some genius coach using the brick to get the win though!

It worked for two reasons...Kennedy 100% locked hands, and it did give him a breather. Who knows if they throw it sooner maybe the refs screw ISU anyway, worked out for the best, but it definitely was a totally legit challenge of a missed call.

Does anybody even know the rule on what would have been "not late"? It feels like they shouldn't be able to interrupt the 30 seconds at all because it's so short a time and every second of riding time is critical.

***also there's no way the coaches could have seen it from where they were sitting but from the camera position it's super obvious. Ref maybe too close/above to see, hard to say.

This and missing Jacob Frost at 149 because he was sick. Like @CyCity said yesterday, Belt to Ass.

Being discussed in the other thread. Pictures showing it also.

They day we signed Rocky is up there as one of the important days in ISU history. It signaled a corner turned. If Rocky Elam believed in Dresser, look out.

Ref is way not where he should be if he is unable to see it.

You can see they don’t practice scrambling because they get gassed any time they get in one. Kennedy didn’t have enough in the tank to do anything but try to get stalls on MJ.
Kennedy looked confused at times on how to wrestle Gaitan. And when he looked to the corner, did not seem to get advice - almost like - whatever.

Now Caliendo is a confident wrestler. Would be awesome to see him in Cardinal and Gold next year.

Any to have the coaches start sending the wrestlers to the locker room before the final match was even over - was embarrassing.

Caliendo is a senior, but I’d take him as a grad assistant or CRTC athlete

What's this about? Seems random? Understanding he's a senior....think there's a chance to get him as a grad assistant or CRTC?

I doubt Iowa lets him leave their room, but I was just saying that those are the only cases where Caliendo is in "Cardinal and Gold" next year

I also thought on MJ's rideout he should have got back points.

It will be interesting. He doesn’t have the “Iowa style” of wrestling. He more aligns to Metcalf. It will come down to whether dumb and dumber realize they are behind and need to adjust or just want to plod along.

That ref was not going to give MJ anything. He would have called a stalemate to allow Kennedy to reset before he was going to call back points. I’m now surprised he gave the fleeing the mat call. (I think that one was on Kennedy wasn’t it? Or was it earlier)
