ISU Bowl Projection

The only bowl game I would not watch would be ISU vs. Memphis in the Liberty Bowl. Frankly, there should be a ban against teams playing in their home stadium for a bowl game.
Has Iowa State had the most historically bad worst luck when it comes to this? Memphis on their home field - twice! - and then Boise State on their blue turf? Has any other team played three bowls on their opponent’s home field?

If I was a CFB recruit I would never play for Memphis just for this reason. You're telling me my reward for playing a winning season and becoming bowl eligible? Staying put in freakin' Memphis as opposed to CA/FL/TX/AZ warm weather bowl game experience. Barf.

Peach bowl and Atlanta were fantastic. Had our picture taken holding trophy, NC Sate coach didn’t realize we were ISU fans.

I would love to play in a bowl in Atlanta.

And this was an era where it was tough to get an invitation to any bowl game. There weren't countless bowl games back then with 6 win eligibility. 6 wins would mean you're staying home.

Repeating but by today's standards, and really any time after like 1995, ISU would have been in a bowl 3 times from 1980-1989 and while they were never good, that decade would likely have a more favorable view like the 2000s.

Now the 1990s...there's no way around that level of terribleness.

I don’t see BYU beating Tech, so they aren’t making the playoff.
Also something to consider is even though Iowa State fans travel well, BYU has a built-in fan base anywhere they go....they had tons of fans at the Alamo Bowl and it would be no different no matter where they end up....bowl games love that BYU is now in the Big 12 and eligible for their higher tier bowl games than the random ones they got as an Independent
