*** Official Grambling State vs #16 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

If 11 points, 5 boards, 3 assists, 2 steals and 33% from three in 21 minutes is an off night for Milan is an off night, we are in great shape. Extend.that out to his average minutes and you've got 15 pts, 7 boards, 4 assists and 3 steals. Based on minutes played, that's a hell of a stat stuffing night for him.
I'm not criticizing Milan here, but fair to point out he barely played in second half because he wasn't playing well. He got benched after not giving great effort on a close out.
So yeah, his numbers would look better if he played more minutes, but his minutes were cut because of his ineffectiveness

But generally, he was very effective in those minutes. Yeah, he was slow to recognize one closeout (after losing his balance a little bit by being in the right spot on help defense), but he played well overall.

I think his limited minutes had a lot more to do with how well Batemon was playing and the experience he was getting.

No argument from me on what you've said. But Clonedude was referring specifically to Milan's shooting, and he said if Milan doesn't have a great night then our team will really struggle scoring the ball.

Well Milan was 3 for 9 from the field tonight, so that's obviously not a great night for him. Nevertheless, our team managed to score 102 points with 6 guys in double figures.

A backcourt lineup of Lipsey, Toure and Batemon is going to terrify any offense in the country. And Nelson and Heise are no slouches at all.

We all know what Jefferson and Milan are.

Buchanon, Pleta and Mulder are a nice threale headed monster at the five. We may legitimately see a 10 man rotation this yeah. It might be 8 man but I think it'll be more matchup based. I think there will be some nights when Mulder, Pleta, Batemon and Nelson only get a handful of minutes. Not because the don't deserve to play, but matchups and the hot hand may dictate that.

Lipsey has been amazing, but we honestly don't look that awful when he is not on the court.
I think the big that could really take off by late season is Pleta. He could be a huge difference maker as the year goes on.

I like the roster makeup of this team. I’m sure there will be inconsistent play from the new guys, but there is potential and depth. It is going to be fun to see who grows the most through out the season. I don’t mind the three post players. They all give great effort and I think they are capable of doing what TJ wants from that position. It is awesome to see Tamin healthy. I kind of forgot how elite of an athlete he was after watching him play injured last year. Tamin and Jefferson set our floor and the improvement by the other guys will set our ceiling. Monday will be a good first test.

Yeah, 3 for 9 isn’t great but it’s also 1 make away from being a really good shooting night. I don’t get too hung up on %s for one game because one more make or miss can swing the % by 10+ percentage points.

I have same feeling. I have no clue what to expect this season to be completely honest. I could see team being pretty good and compete in the top half of the big 12. But I also could see this team winning 18 games and making a trip to the NIT.
As stacked as the B12 is this year, 18 games still gets you into the NCAA

That’s not what I said, but what I ACTUALLY say isn’t really important anymore on here it seems.

I also said that I think this team has a lot of potential to be really good too…. but I’m Mr. Negative.

Like most TJ teams…. shooting is a struggle…. and if Milan isn’t on, we’re straight up a poor shooting team.

Pleta is probably the most offensively skilled big but something with the flow of the game he's not quite there with. And why does he keep getting moving screen calls or offensive foul calls? Reduce those and it would help. I think you're right, he'll improve as the season goes.

Tamin addressed those issues in his post game interview with JW, basically said lots of talent but still learning how fast the collegiate game is. Tamin gives great interviews by the way.

I’m very surprised these first two games that Jefferson isn’t being very aggressive on the offensive side. As much as we paid him to come back I figured he would or could be a 17 and 10 guy.
This turned out to be pretty close to oracle level. 17 and 9 through the first 2 games. Get him a bottle of windex and we'll get there.

I'm lost on where to find Tamin's post game interview. Help me out please.....
