*** Official Grambling State vs #16 IOWA STATE Game(Day) Thread ***

I know I had made a comment about Batemon after game 1, but he needs all of Nelson’s minutes. Period.

I think Pleta needs to play more too. He looks a lot better than I was expecting.

Glad to see Batemon figuring it out. Nelson has been a little lackluster since the exhibitions, but with his slashing ability I’m not sure you can completely bench him.

Pleta seems to be figuring things out quickly, which is exciting.

We’ll see how the lineup gets pared down for conference play.

This team has a weird vibe to me, I can't put my finger on why though. Not saying it in a bad way either. Maybe I just haven't gotten used to all the new guys yet.
I have same feeling. I have no clue what to expect this season to be completely honest. I could see team being pretty good and compete in the top half of the big 12. But I also could see this team winning 18 games and making a trip to the NIT.

Need to hit a few 3's and break a hundred.

Like most TJ teams…. shooting is a struggle…. and if Milan isn’t on, we’re straight up a poor shooting team.

I'm starting to be less concerned on three-point shooting since we've had six different guys hit a three in both games so far.

edit: Seven! Xzavion!

28% from 3, 55% from the FT line....woof, this team feels more like TJ's first two teams than his last two offensively. Hopefully we are just getting this out of our system before Monday. We're really going to need Milan to prove he can be more than a role player, if he's not shooting well, he won't be playable at the end of games in the Big 12, like last year. How far this team goes will depend on how he plays defense and shoots. He's gotta turn that corner.
I don't get it. We may put up 90 pts, have 5 players in double figures and 10 players score 2 or more buckets. I'll grant that the FT % could be an issue but this team has much more offense than early TJ teams.

The athleticism is there to be very good. Post defense has to be better, more like the second half tonight. And, somehow at least 2 guys other than Milan need to emerge as legit 3-point shooters. Could be Tamin and Toure, Batemon, maybe Heise picks up where he left off end of last year. When you can spread the floor, everything becomes much easier. And, it opens up more chances for Milan.

@rosshm16 Yea, I am dumb. I don't understand why the time of the game that the points are scored matters? I mean, why not score more the first 5 minutes of the game? Is it more important to score more in the middle 10 minutes of the game? I am trying to learn what part of the game each player needs to score more since it seems to be important.
I am racking up the badges tonight - now a dumb from @Malone, the basketball savant. I am hanging with the right crowd.
