Creighton exhibition discussion (see post 178 for Jake's link)

Idk why I thought it was a good idea to scroll through burnerville USA tonight.

If this is you, or of the similar- take a breath and grab a beer

Wow better than expected with no Tamin on the road top 25
Yeah, I would have been pretty shocked if our guys had found a way to pull it out without Tamin. Obviously did not shoot well at all, but a great point guard gets the ball to you in the right spots, so that could have had something to do with it. Guys just need to get a couple home bunnies under their belts and they'll be fine.

Respectfully, they absolutely boat raced us. It was never in doubt. In scrub time against scrubs we made the score look a little bit better. That's about it. It was absolute domination. We were down by like 28 points with 15 minutes left. Giving up a 23-0 run was absolutely as bad as it sounds. We looked awful and played awful for over half the game.

The good news is, it doesn't matter. We have a damn good coach and a good team and good players. Just not a good night at all. It's OK to say that. Learn from it and move on, that's what these games are for.

We were down 23 at half, shot terrible, it happens. Every team has duds and you are right I'm glad this one didn't matter. We play them again Thanksgiving time with Tamin. Milan has his 0-7 from 3 games and we might live and die from it but the rest of the team wasn't making them either. We have some work to do to be Sweet 16+ but we have a lot of time.

I think expecting that a road game against a really good team while missing your top guard and trying to replace two key guards from the previous year would be anything other than a likely dud is a bit insane. Kind of like taking the engine out of a car and then going racing. Lipsey, Jones and Gilbert was one hell of a guard court. We're not replacing 2/3 without some hiccups along the way (especially with Tamin out)

When you look up Chicken Little, Cyclone Dave is the picture next to it.

Shooting is a major concern for this team. We basically have none at all if Milan isn't on fire... and tonight he was beyond awful... 0-7 from 3... 4-21 I think from the floor overall. I'm not sure if anyone else really looked capable??

Creighton got 27 pts from 3... we got zero. I know it's just one game... so need to calm down a bit... but we didn't seem to recruit any shooters once again, and went all on defense.

Batemon and Heise can provide some firepower, particularly with Tamin breaking down the defense.

Never thought I'd live long enough to see a TJ team give up 46 points in one half. That's the game right there, folks. I give credit to Creighton's coaching staff on how to attack our traps.

Will be interesting to see the adjustments we make when we play them for real in a month.

The freshman were completely out of rhythm- it was very clear that was their very first exposure to a game at a high major level. That was to be expected. I was pleased to see Toure’s size, he will be able to play defense in the Big 12 when Lipsey needs a breather.

That said, the offense was abysmal. No movement, iso ball, bad shots. When you’re sitting there watching Creighton maneuver open shots possession after possession it is maddening to watch our YMCA ball on the other end. Of course that will be better with the floor general back on the court but it was bad.

The final box score doesn’t tell the story, we got run out of the gym before they called the dogs back to the bench for a while.

Honestly glad that happened right away, give them a wake up call before anything matters. Flush it and fix it.

Wait, when has Tamin ever been good at breaking down a defense? I mean, he’s good at getting to the rim and a good defender, but I wouldn’t call him a creator.
