*** Official #14 IOWA STATE vs Arkansas State Game(Day) Thread ***

The Big 12 champion is going to the playoffs. ISU is presently the highest rated Big 12 team. So, it seems reasonable to suggest that ISU is in the present playoff banter, such as it is. Not sure why you are aarguing aout this.

Because it's September.

Not even mid-September.

Every time we blitzed we gave up a big play.

We needed to sit in our zone with a S spying the QB.
Every time we blitzed we could not keep him in the pocket, and allowed him to slide to gain time. I agree we needed to spy a running QB, but we also allow them too much time in the pocket early in the game, allowing the QB to gain confidence. If you are going to blitz you have to hit the QB and we were not doing that today.

It makes going undefeated a necessity. If we lose to TCU and still make the championship and lose this performance will eliminate us. If we took care of business the chances improve. It’s unfortunate but true. Big 12 isn’t viewed well nationally and today definitely didn’t help.
A two loss team from the B12 is not going to make the playoff, this game would not hurt us with that many loses. The ACC is looking like it's going to get Miami and FSU in, so unless ND screws the pooch and doesn't make it, we will be a one bid league again.

All this back and forth. We’re about to be a top 10 team on Monday given all the other results of the teams above us.
No. Three losses above us. #8 Notre Dame, #11 South Carolina, #12 Clemson.

We can get as high as #11, but we're getting jumped by Texas A&M, who beat #8 Notre Dame. We could get jumped by another team below us also, since we looked so bad. So in conclusion I think we're going to be #13 next week.

Edit: if they're smart (they're not) we'll actually drop. We did not perform like a top 15 team today.

I can't see that

#1-7 won.

#8 ND lost to #16 TAMU
#9 Illinois won and will probably slide up to #8
#10 FSU was on a bye and will coast upward to 9.
#11 SC lost badly and probably falls behind us
#12 Clemson lost and probably falls behind us
#13 Oklahoma won big and will probably coast up to #10
#14 ISU won in a close game against a bad team.
#15 Tennessee lost so they won't pass us
#16 TAMU is now 3-0 with a big road win at a top 10 team, they probably do pass us.
#17 Ole Miss beat Arkansas.
#18 USF lost bad and will drop hard
#19 Alabama beat wisconsin badly.
#20 Utah won't pass us by beating Wyoming

I think best case scenario we're #12 tomorrow, with us passing ND, SC, Clemson, but TAMU jumping us. But with how bad we looked and SEC voter bias, don't be surprised if Ole Miss and\or Alabama jump us too

ND won’t make it, and FSU has a ton to prove still.

If ISU does what it needs to do no one will give a **** about this game. People convincing themselves that this performace is what will keep ISU out of the playoffs are nuts and slaves to the moment. ISU is 4-0, which doesn't happen all that often, and it's probably the toughest 4 game stretch to start a season any ISU team has ever played. Relax. Anyone would have taken these results with enthusiasm before the season started.
