South Dakota Postgame

I’ve been coming to ISU games for a looong time. It’s been quite a while since Ive seen such domination, near perfection in execution and fantastic adjustments to the opponent.

I said it last week that this team feels different. It’s a complete team and when it doesn’t turn the ball over, we will be REALLY difficult to beat.

I think SD really tried to shut down the run game at the expense of their pass defense. It bit them big time and they didn’t change until it was way too late.

Biggest surprise stat for me is that Walters said USD didn’t cross the 50 yard line in the second half and had 34 yards of total office. I know the game was out of hand but second half Heacock strikes again.

We were talking about how good ISU has been the last few years on halftime adjustments. Heacock is a genius at adjustments.

My post game thoughts-
- I'm surprised that they came out and threw the ball like they did, especially once up a couple scores. Love the attitude
- Rocco played basically a perfect game
- the TE room is extremely special, and that's with next great one (Alexander) not making a catch yet
- Sama had 3 carries for 23 yards and basically didn't play after his TD. They were bottling up Hansen, but we didn't really need to go to plan B in the run game
- X had 4 touches for 45 yards and looked dynamic and versatile
- After the first pick, the defense adjusted and had Bouman completely baffled.
- Too bad the FR RBs are dinged up, would have loved to see them in the 2nd half.
- Sowell is still sitting on a goose egg
- Dylan Lee looked very strong, especially after his first series. Did anyone notice that his TD was the same new "wrinkle" A-gap run where he goes behind the QB after the snap that Hansen had a big run with last week?
- Aiden Flora may be an all-timer by the time he's finished, he's got something very special. Too bad he got dinged up on the second PR, would have loved to see him get some carries in the 2nd half
- Watching Easton Miller truck guys in the fourth quarter is something I could get used to
- Manske is a gamer. We couldn't tell much about his throwing, but he ran the team and the offense really well. His best throw was the Townsend pass that drew a PI. He looked "Rocco-like" out there
- The team has had 4 total penalties through Week 0 and Week1: A defensive delay of game, a hold on Cooper playing his first game at CB, a OPI on Eskildsen and a false start with the 3rd teamers in the game. That is AMAZING

Rocco: Imma gonna work on my accuracy this season.

Also Rocco: Goes 19/20 to set a school record, breaking the one set by a Cyclone legend, Seneca Wallace.

Also also Rocco: Currently completing 68.8% of his passes.
