Iowa State -10 vs West Virginia

Line up to 10.5 some places and was 9.5 some places yesterday.
West Virginia could have a lull in energy after their very spirited game vs Texas.
Iowa State generally plays well in Big 12 road games in the Matt Campbell era; especially ones that are not hyped up too much.
Iowa State could have some success running the ball against what appears to be an undersized WVU team, but TCU played horrible(penalties and bad qb play), so an overconfident ISU team could be humbled if they dont put the TCU game into perspective and come well prepared.

Poker Cheating Scandal

Found this story fascinating. A poker player on a live stream (30 minute delay) was called out for cheating because his play on certain hands became too unbelievably good. People think that the RFIDs in the opponents cards are being read by Postle or an accomplice and then being sent to his phone or bone conductive headphones hidden in his hat.

An invitation to Cyclones coming to Morgantown

We hope to see a lot of Cyclones in Morgantown this Saturday. My wife and I tailgate in the Blue Lot (right next to the stadium) and we really enjoy hosting opposing fans. It's great to make new friends and talk football. I've been extending these invitations to opponents ever since we joined the B12, and we've had some great turnouts. Your fans travel very well and we've had a few dozen join us in past years.

So I hereby invite any and all Cyclones to join us Saturday for some good food, cold beer and some traditional clear Appalachian adult beverage. You can join our tradition, The Fire Water Circle, where we form a big circle, Mountaineers and guests together arm in arm, sing Country Roads and pass the clear stuff around. We'd be impressed if you'd sing your fight song for us. We'll do The Circle about an hour before kick-off. Then you need to think about going in the stadium because you don't want to miss our band entrance. The Pride of West Virginia entrance is like no other.

To find us, start at the 3 flag poles in front of Ruby Hospital. If you stand with your back to the flag poles, walk in a straight line towards the closest gate of the stadium. That is the North Gate. A third of the way there you will cross an access road that splits the Blue Lot. We try to park in the end space on the stadium side of the access road. If we miss out on that spot, we should be right around there somewhere. White Mercedes SUV. Ask anyone around for John and Crystal from South Carolina.

Or, if you're a techie, plug these coordinates into your pocket wizard: 39°39'9" N 79°57'23" W. That should get you within yards of our party.

Come see us!

New TV Shows

Any recommendations out there for new TV shows that just came out this fall? Probably should have asked this a week or 2 ago before my DVR wiped out the premier week.

I gave Bluff City Law on NBC a try and after watching the pilot episode I plan to watch some more as it was good enough to capture my interest. I've liked some shows Jimmy Smits has been in the past so maybe that is what drew it to me too. Probably the one series Jimmy was in that unfortunately got axed after 1 season was Cane back in 2007 that also had Hector Elizondo (many roles over the years but currently is Ed on Last Man Standing.) Even worse they ended that show on a huge cliff hanger too so didn't even get some closure like they sometimes do with shows they cancel.

Receiving Votes

Iowa State is receiving votes again in the AP Poll. The first RPI Ranking came out today and Iowa State is #25 which is a great sign!
Baylor is going to be TOUGH on Wednesday, although Kansas State had a chance to take a set against them this weekend but had EIGHT service errors in the last set and lost 29-27.

Fennelly media day press conference

Notes from various people on twitter:

If season started today, starters would be Scott (duh), Joens (duh), Wise (duh), Camber (I wonder if we might see a breakout year from her), and PG by committee. Espenmiller-McGraw might actually be the starter at PG except she's been fighting the flu recently. Apparently she's been doing really well in practice.

Fennelly specifically mentioned Jade Thurmon as someone who has been practicing great so far. This team has a completely different look if she's playing.

bailey injury

i was really impressed how petersen filled in for bailey. will that make it easier for the staff to redshirt him this year and have him come back full strength? didnt i read that he had surgery on his leg. i for one would love to have him back for next year with lima and johnson leaving to graduation
