New Letter From Alcatraz Escapee?

A letter allegedly written by one of the escapees recently came to light. CBS San Francisco exclusively obtained it from a source.

"My name is John Anglin. I escape from Alcatraz in June 1962 with my brother Clarence and Frank Morris. I'm 83 years old and in bad shape. I have cancer. Yes we all made it that night but barely!"

Bowen Born

https://247sports.com/Player/Bowen-Born-46057912/
Exploded for 47 tonight. He is averaging 25 PPG, and 4 assists per game as well. Why has this kid not got an ISU offer yet? There is not a Coach in America I trust more than Prohm when it comes to evaluating PG talent. But from everything I have seen Born has all the tools to be a dominate College PG. He is on the shorter side "5'11" but has good quickness, above average athleticism, nice vertical, solid passer, nice ball control, a slew of floaters and shots he can get off against bigs, and is a deadly shooter from 3 point range. What does he need to do to get an offer from ISU? Does he need to beat Foster and Osky again in the State Championship? Or simply grow a few inches? ISU is in on a bunch of 4 Star PG's at the moment but Born is way better than his UNI, and Drake offers.

National Tournament Finishes now in WrestleStat!

It's been requested a few times, but I finally got around to implementing it; National Tournament placements are now included on the school and wrestlers profile pages.

Go to the schools or wrestlers profile page and look in the "Season Summaries" section. In the rank column, there will be a value at the end, in parenthesis, that shows their finish in the national tournament that year.

For wrestlers, it goes thru R16.
For schools, it goes thru ALL schools that earned at least 0.5 points, which is approximately the top 60.

Here are some to look at:

Iowa | https://www.wrestlestat.com/team/34/iowa/profile

Oklahoma State | https://www.wrestlestat.com/team/57/oklahoma-state/profile

Ohio State | https://www.wrestlestat.com/team/55/ohio-state/profile

CF RADIO SHOW: 1-24-19

https://cyclonefanatic.com/podcasts/cf-radio-show-1-24-19/https://cyclonefanatic.com/podcasts/cf-radio-show-1-24-19/

Wrestling portion picks up around 49:40 mark.

My thoughts:
  • Why does Jared always start these wrestling discussions with a statement that he knows nothing about wrestling? Is it that hard to learn a little bit about the sport, or at least about the ISU team? Yet he drives the conversation. Can you imagine starting a talk about the football team with a statement "I know nothing about football. Let's begin!"?
  • Rob Gray has good knowledge about the ISU program and wrestling in general. I appreciate that he can ask questions that allow Jackie to talk about what's happening in the wrestling room. He kept this segment rolling.
  • I thought the comments about the difference between the Jackson era and the Dresser era were spot on.
  • Nice time management at the end. "Jackie - how close are some of these guys to competing for a championship? Never mind - We're out of time!"
  • Jackie's contributions were good, just wish we could have heard more from her. I enjoyed her insight into how the wrestlers feel about the season so far - obvious that she is following them closely and having conversations with them and the staff.
As always, I appreciate any wrestling tidbits that are thrown our way. Would like to see more.

High School Insider: Terukina conquering opponents, fear of sharks while adding to family's Hawaiian

http://www.trackwrestling.com/PortalPost.jsp?postId=1123921132&TIM=1548422536573

When the Kamehameha (Hawaii) High School wrestler was growing up his dad, Darryl, a lifeguard, would take Kysen and his older brothers Shayden, Blaysen and Zayren to Nanakuli Beach Park, where Darryl has been a lifeguard the past 25 years, to train.

Shayden eventually wrestled at Iowa State for Kevin Jackson from 2011-2015, while Blaysen, a junior, starts at 133 for California-Menlo, and Zayren is Wartburg College's current 149-pound starter as a freshman.
