***Official Cycling Thread***

Are there many cycling (bike) fanatics on here? Or just leisure bikers? I got into road biking too late in life and with this weather I've been doing some daydreaming about it. I do have an indoor (non-smart) turbo trainer which I use on Zwift. It's actually pretty fun and i usually do that during a game or a movie to break the monotony. I damn near killed myself with a workout last night.

With the indoor training I've become hooked on training with power. Any power meter users out there? They aren't cheap and I have no intention of ever racing but I want to really up my fitness. I'd love any opinions about that and anything cycling related.

On That Note - The Day(s) The Music Died

Welcome to another weekly Wednesday posting of On That Note, our weekly music themed post. This week I am your humble host. Others on the OTN team are @cyclones500 and @CycloneRulzzz.

Since Feb 3 is the 60th anniversary of the Holly/Valens/Richardson plane crash - Happening after their appearance at the Surf Ballroom in Clear Lake - we selected a topic this week based around artists who died in transportation related accidents.

The only rule is - you may repeat artists previously posted but you must select a different song from the artist to post. Also please post the cause of death, be it airplane, auto, motorcycle etc.

Stay safe and warm!

My first 5:

The B Side of the big Holly/Crickets hit That'll Be the Day, I really love this one. Especially the part at 1:20, "Drunk man, Street Car, Foot slip (Drum Hit!) There you are!" Oh, yeah - Plane crash, duh.

Another plane crash victim, Jim Croce. Best know for "You Don't Mess Around With Jim" I'm more partial to this lost love ballad, "Operator"

Blame this life flame being extinguished way too early on an automobile crash while on tour in England in 1960, Eddie Cochran, from just north of the border, in Albert Lea, MN, was a true pioneer - writing and playing his own stuff like Buddy. Pretty hot guitar player, too. Probably my favorite tune from the guy is this number:

Otis Redding went down in a plane crash near Madison Wisconsin in late 1967. Something a bit uplifting here maybe - after all this talk about death?

I've posted this one before. Outside my wheelhouse - in the country music vein. Hawkshaw Hawkins died in the same plane crash that took Patsy Cline in 1963

Tech vs ISU tonight

Big game - heard it's sort kinda chilly up there right now. TT has played much better this year than last. They have virtually been in practically every Big 12 game they've played so far. Had TX down by 5 with 6 minutes to go. Came within an inch of beating WV. They do not have the same caliber of players that ISU currently has. But if their PG plays out of her gourd and gets hot it could spell trouble. She (Carr) is virtually the second coming of Andre Riley of OSU. I suppose some of you WBB buffs remember her - the girl that shot whenever she wanted from wherever she was.

If the girls bring their decent game tonight it should be a victory in the bag. Plan to watch on CYTV. Let's go !!
