I don’t understand this line of thinking. I agree that Campbell doesn’t owe us anything and that 10 years was a helluva run but I’m not going to be cheering on Penn State any time soon. Well, maybe against the hawks but that’s about it.
Not getting cute with the answers, you can do that in the comments. Yes or No

Legalize Weed and Sports Be Fun Again

From the youngest age up to late last year, I’ve always been an anti alcohol, smoke, weed, etc person. It stemmed from knowing my biological father was a drugged up, alcoholic who spent years and years in and out of jail. Add the mental health predisposition to addiction, and I wanted nothing to do with it. I wasn’t for or against weed legalization but would never have tried it in a million years, just like alcohol.

I spent 42 years miserable due to stress, anxiety, depression, OCD, ADHD, and being bipolar. There was no relief from that regardless of how great things may have been going.

But for the past couple years due to all the increasing pain and issues from Young Onset Parkinson’s, I finally caved and got my medical marijuana card late last year. Because when you’re on so many meds and nothing is helping you have to turn somewhere. I avoided going to the dispensary. Then I avoided using what I had bought. Then I continued to resist it. Then early summer I gave in and wow the difference in mindset. While it only helps to a degree, pain going from 18 on the 1-10 scale down to 12 is awesome.

Don’t get me wrong, I still would want age limits and whatnot, but cannabis has so many benefits it should be more legal than alcohol has a right to be. At least when you’re high deadbeats are too out of it to beat their wife. Neither should include driving over certain levels. Neither should be used under age.

I need the pain relief but am not a person that wants to lose control of themselves or lose sense of reality, I don’t use it to get high. Just like if alcohol had pain relief, I wouldn’t be seeking to get drunk; but some days pain requires more and has its effects.

So for pain relief alone it should be more accessible. But then the mental benefits as well.

Even today’s **** storm ratchets down to the point I’m writing about weed, listening to Korn and not even thinking about it. So there is a mental health benefit as well. While you wouldn’t prescribe it for kids and send them to school with a Puffco Proxy, Davinci, or Vessel 510 battery, for the “of age” population it can be helpful. If research of it wouldn’t have been banned since the 60s, maybe we’d have microdose strains with specific terpenes to help in a clinical way without as many side effects as man made drugs.

So you get the medicinal benefits which have been proven time and time again AND you make the cluster **** the world is today a little chiller. I’m not ranting about a neo nazi fascist ruining democracy when I’m high. And Iowa State football games were a lot less stressful this year - not a single Apple Watch blood pressure warning. Maybe some others could benefit from that as well. And if there’s anything the world and Iowa State fans need most, it’s to be a little less stressful.

Fanatics Loyalty!

I just want to say it's been a long day. Lots of things have been said about coaching, money...but the word I'm hearing is loyalty. In this business of college athletics, there's really not much of that at the end of the day. Money drives things in today's world. Loyalty is down the list a long ways. While coaches have always been able to come and go...and administration's can fire coaches who don't win 10 + games every year...the transfer portal has now made it to where players have very little Loyalty to their respective teams. (As I'm sure we'll find out.)
But you know who has stayed loyal and committed?
.
....You, Cyclone fanatics. We've lived through horrible football seasons. A 2-22 basketball season. Good coaches come...and go. Good players jump into the portal. .sometimes multiple times...
But through it all, you fanatics always show up on this site. Some of you are borderline crazy, some are funny, some are irritating as h***. Probably Iowa trolls. But what you ALL are ...is Loyal. Loyal Iowa State fans that show up for all the games. Travel to wherever to see the Cyclones play. Live through the tough times and celebrate the great times! But you'll always bleed Cardinal and Gold. And for that...we have each other as Cyclone Fanatics to be on this site to vent to each other, celebrate together, laugh or cry depending on who you are...but we'll always, ALWAYS be loyal Cyclone Fanatics! Thank you everyone and GO CYCLONES!!

Atrial Fibrilation Ablation

Hello,

Wondering how many if any of you are dealing or have dealt with this and if you have had an ablation done.

A little back story. Towards the end of July my heart rate was crazy high and wouldn't go down so I went to the local ER. They couldn't get my heart rate to slow down and correct itself so the shipped me up to St Mary's. They did a cardioversion there the next day as I was still in afib and sent me home with some meds. A month later I went back into afib. Again got sent to rochestor. They changed up my meds and I self corrected without needing a shock. I've gone into a fib 3 more times since then all three times self correcting without needing to get shocked.

I have an ablation scheduled for the 16th. Just curious if anyone has had this done and what the recovery was like. All I know is what I've read online and in the literature I was given. I know it's going to knock me down pretty good, just trying to gauge how much.

I'm 35. I know, super fun to have heart problems at 35. Planning to be back at work the 18th.

I'm not concerned about the procedure just trying to get an idea of what to expect from.someone that has been through it.

GRAY: Who is Jimmy Rogers? He's "Matt Campbell 2.0" according to T.J. Otzelberger

Some love for the assistants

I hope its not lost in all of this is the amazing work Campbells assistants have done over the years.

Heacock is a ******* legend, best assistant we've ever had by a mile.

Rasheed always did a good job with the D-line

Poteat was a miracle worker with the corners

Broomfield a stud with the safeties and going to be a star in the coaching world

Clanton gave us what we all were clamoring for, a good oline

Pauley seemed to be a great developer with WR's

I know I'm missing some, but these guys deserve as much kudos as Campbell.

Dear Jamie Pollard

After years of demanding loyalty we find out you were flirting with Rogers for years.

We need an AD, not a flailing commercial property landlord.

You flirted with a person whose name you can't spell correctly.

Every coach you hire ends up disliking you because you want to be a track school and ignore what is important.

We said goodbye to Cael and his cauliflower ears, yet we never saw Chris Williams tears.

We look West and we see Mayor Fred, because you wouldn't get them an extra night in a hotel bed.

As NLP once said, "You made Chris Williams cry, when you let our football program die"

Pollard....you are the weakest link!

Dear Matt Campbell,

Thanks for giving us some good years and big wins.

Thanks for preaching loyalty and trusting the process.

Thanks for selling us on the journey.

Thanks for selling us that you were loyal.

Thanks for selling us hope of climbing to the top.

Thanks for being just like all the other coaches.

You don’t give a **** about the fans, the community or the players.

You really do just care about a paycheck.

You are going to a school that should’ve been demolished for the worst scandal in the history of college football.

You are going to a school that that you were at least their 5th option.

You are going to make a lot of money. You might even make a lot of money, but you’ve sold your soul for something you have told us you aren’t.

I hope you lose every game you play, even against the hawks.

I hope you swim in your cash and drown in the expectations of Happy Valley because they don’t care about anything other than winning football games.

They didn’t care about a pervert hurting children for years.

You had a good thing here.

We will be fine.

You’ll be fine, but you are not the person you said you were, and I feel stupid for falling for your schtick.

I hope you fail. I hope for nothing good to happen to you in the football world.

At least the slimeballs like Kiffin are honest on being a *****.

Man, I thought you were different Matthew, but tonight proves I was fooled.

Good Riddance and **** you.

Welcome to Purdue (answering any questions)

Hello all - mostly a lurker, but I lived in Ames for 5-6 years and now am back in Indiana.

I have a Purdue degree, wife has an Iowa State degree.

If you guys have any questions on Purdue, especially if you are heading in for the game, please let me know!

The biggest question, and best advice I can give is regarding parking:

Do not pay to park. There is ample parking in the neighborhood that is just NE of West Lafayette high school. If you arrive to the game 30+ minutes prior, there will be plenty if you do not mind a 10 minute walk. Can post a diagram of best spots to look for parking if needed.

Welcome to West Lafayette!

We're a Basketball and Wrestling School now

With Campbell leaving this late in the cycle, I think we have to accept the fact that we are going to be the worst football team in the power conferences for the next 2-3 years. Honestly, from a strategic POV, unless we can get Harry Stine on board, we should just allocate the minimum of the $20 mil necessary to simply field a football team and go all in on MBB, WBB, and Wrestling. **** Volleyball as well. We could actually win a natty in those sports at some time in the next 50 years. Football that would simply be impossible.

Once our fan and more importantly donor base accepts this, we can actually move forward as an athletic department that can still generate significant fan and donor interest. Because pumping money into what can only be a failing enterprise is just bad management and is a bad long-term decision for the health of the Athletics department.
