Preview of northern Illinois

Another not so good team in the Northern Illinois Huskies arrives in Ames for what we presume will be a woodshed thrashing today. At 2-6, the Huskies have been “competitive” in nearly every game on their schedule, but that schedule hasn’t been a real list of juggernauts. Losing to Western Illinois and Illinois Chicago aren’t resume builders.

UNI is only scoring 56 points per game and I suspect they might struggle to reach that today if the Sisters’ defense is clicking. UNI is shooting 36% from the field and a miserable 22% from the three point line. Add in 67% at the line and this is an offensively challenged team. They have two players averaging double figures in Laccen (13) and Wingate(12). Those two, and Mbemba, are the primary decent three point shooters (all over 40%).

UNI is also limited in size with Serrancanta and Wingate being the only starters at six feet or taller (both are 6’). Crooks and Brown should absolutely devastate them inside. They do feature a local gal in Emilie Sorenson from Waukee.

Let’s hope this is just another tune up that gives our starters some bench time resting prior to what promises to be a real battle against the Hawks on Wednesday.

Iowa pregame thread (men's game)

I couldn't find a pregame thread for the Iowa game, so I guess I'll start one.

Time to welcome Mr. McCollum and his band of Drake....i mean Iowa.... players to Hilton Magic.

This rivalry game always makes me nervous, and Iowa is off to a solid start. As of right now, it looks like we're a 6.5 point favorite. I'm no gambler, but I'd bet on us to cover.

I think our biggest opponent Thursday night will be ourselves, not Iowa. In short, can we keep our focus after going on the road and curb stomping the #1 team in the nation?

Well if there's one thing TJ excels in, it's keeping our guys focused.

Beat the CFP, select and seed your legit 12

You're the committee. Give your 12 (has to include top 5 conf champs) and seed them 1-12 in order.

HFCS selection committee, hey it's almost as large as the actual CFP committee:
1 - Indiana (13-0)
2 - Ohio State (12-0)
3 - Georgia (12-1)
4 - Texas Tech (12-1)

5 - Oregon (11-1)
6 - Ole Miss (11-1)
7 - A&M (11-1)
8 - BYU (11-1) (I'm so unbiased ranking the big 12 team a spot lower than computers have them)
9 - OU (10-2)
10 - Notre Dame (10-2) (the ACC is still included, they play a metric crap ton of ACC teams every year and dodge the CCG)
11 - Tulane (11-2)
12 - JMU (12-1)

If anybody wants a large computer average of the teams here's massey average prior to the CCGs which actually might be more fair since some teams get to dodge it:
1. Ohio St
2. Indiana
3. Oregon
4. Tech
5. Georgia
6. ND
7. BYU (still think the Big 12 isn't getting F'd by media perception?)
8. A&M
9. Ole Miss
10. Alabama
11. Miami
12. OU
13. Utah (still think the Big 12 isn't getting F'd by media perception?)
21. JMU
34. Tulane

Tailgate to Meet Head Coach Jimmy Rogers

We need a shot of CycloneFanatic community. Head Coach Jimmy Rogers is scheduled to leave in a few minutes and arrive at Ames Airport at 8:23pm.

Join us outside Jack Trice Stadium at 7:30pm for a tailgate. We will probably set up in 85W or along the curb by the Jacobsen/Albaugh courtyard.

Fresh Randy Peterson column post-game.

Why the Cyclones’ domination at Purdue puts them firmly in the national conversation.

TJ Lifetime Contract

Ok, maybe not quite yet - but damn do we need to do EVERYTHING and ANYTHING to keep him. With the resources and challenges we have, we have no reason to be as good as we are and he makes it work no matter what and with whoever he can get. There's no better face for the school, and the program is one of the most exciting to watch in the country. He isn't asking for more money so anything else he asks for should be rubber stamped yes.

I grew up living for ISU MBB and there were some amazing times. But nothing compares to the feeling of watching our teams these days. The chemistry, the culture, the comradery, the passion, the effort - you can't ask for anything more.

I don’t understand this line of thinking. I agree that Campbell doesn’t owe us anything and that 10 years was a helluva run but I’m not going to be cheering on Penn State any time soon. Well, maybe against the hawks but that’s about it.
Not getting cute with the answers, you can do that in the comments. Yes or No
