I had a friend who worked in a coffee shop in Denver and a very well-known country artist came in. My friend played it cool and asked her name and wrote it on her cup. When the drink order was done, my friend handed it to her and said “can’t wait for your show tonight” and gave her a wink. The country music star got on her phone and came back five minutes later with two front row tickets and a $200 tip.

I’ve never been around a famous person but I always like to think I would play it cool and treat them like an average person.

Just for all you Ankeny bashers

What is up with the "downtown" knock on Ankeny? What suburbs have a "downtown"? Usually when you talk about downtown in a metro area you are talking about the city. Otherwise you're talking about a small town that has one street where all the businesses are located or maybe even a square like Polk City. It's just a weird thing to criticize when I feel like most suburbs lack what you would consider a "downtown" area because they are generally sprawling with multiple business districts.

Yeah, it's not really any different than WDM with Valley Junction and the newer "town center" part being Jordan Creek.

The better builders focus on the 5-600k+ neighborhoods. DR Horton took over when they bought Classic Builders (not that CB was great either) and their builds are absolute ****. DR Horton and Greenland kind of run the show. There are some others like Happe and Sage that fall in that middle ground but I think some of those got caught with too much inventory when prices got jacked and rates went up. The national builders had the pockets to keep pumping out their dog **** builds to customers that want the cheapest house they can get because it's all they can afford.
There were zero between 500-650 when we were looking.

Dumbest Thing You Believed

I have to frame this a little. My great grandparents more or less raised me from the time I was in diapers until I got to middle school anytime I wasn't in school during the work day. My grandpa liked to see what he could get us kids to believe and would sometime really stretch the truth. My hometown had a city cop who could have made it on my 600lb life or whatever that show about the gastric bypass surgeon is. Grandpa used to tell me that he had to carry a stick of butter in his pocket to grease up the door so he could get in and out of the police cruiser. I'm pretty sure I believed him until like 8th grade.

Yeah this kind of thing happens all the time with anyone with even the smallest amount of fame. People develop these parasocial relationships. And now in the current era those are monetized through streaming platforms. Its amazing how much money some people will shell out just to get a shout-out from someone who they'll never meet.

I do have to say this. My father hates Payton Sandfort. Like really hates him. So we tried to get Sandfort to do a Cameo for this birthday thanking my dad for being his biggest fan. However, he had shut his cameo down for some reason (It was going to be like 25 bucks) and we could not do it. So yeah even college athletes are doing this cameo thing and making money off fans.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

Freeform. They made it hard to get. The show was actually pretty decent, if it were to be made and released now on D+ it would have success, I think. They even had ties into the Roxxon Corp which has been dangled in current MCU stuff including Loki.
It was available on Hulu too. That and Runaways, which was Hulu exclusive. Think they even crossed over. I enjoyed it for the most part.

Eh, even living here I'd say while the rest isn't as bad as Delaware, the rest is rather poorly laid out. one of the NS roads really needed to be more designed for flow through the city rather than a million stoplights. It legitimately might take less time for me to go from my house in SE ankeny to WDM than it does to go from my house to the north side of ankeny driving through town.

Hopefully some of these projects on Ankeny blvd will improve things, but overall the lights in general seem to be poorly managed. Theyre always talking about updating light timings, while WDM had adaptive signals at most of its intersections a decade+ ago.
My mother-in-law lives just south of town and some friends that live up near 18th and Ankeny Blvd. With the road work on Ankeny Blvd and other areas lately, I can relate to the travel time from WDM when I go to see my friends but have to swing by the in-law's house. It actually was better before they started finishing some of the side streets as several lights north of 1st have been off.

When looking for new homes last year, I really want to find something in Ankeny but it seems like everything was either really cheap from national builders, or way over our budget. Waukee, Urbandale, and Grimes had a lot more options in our price range.

Jackson Kiss changes commitment to UNLV

I just find it interesting that, if he and TJ had a mutual decision to part ways, UNLV would offer him and he'd commit right away, without a plan already in place for him there. It's not like UNLV offered him months ago and he reconsidered his commitment to ISU and asked out of his NLI to go there.
Options are pretty limited out there at this point. There aren't a ton of roster spots left and most of them are waiting out older guys.

Probably just a coincidence that UNLV happened to be the one with a spot.

RTT...20-20 hindsight.

Went to a grad party Sunday. To drink they had a whiteish big pitcher of liquid and a red big picture of liquid. The white looked like milk based, which I don’t drink, so I took the red that I believed to be kool aid. They had ladles that you scooped it out with.

Has anyone had a glass of crushed watermelon juice? A few chunks had me curious and the first drink confirmed it.

I was in an argument on facebook calling a guy creepy for talking to our female basketball players. He says he knows them all because he talks to them all the time. I found it very weird. It's one thing to say "Nice Game" or get a pic and autograph. However, to constantly talk and try and text them is weird unless you have known them before.

Marvel Cinematic Universe

SIAP, but is there a list of required post-Endgame movies to watch before Doomsday? I think I’ve seen everything up until The Fantastic Four movie, with the exception of She-Hulk and The Marvels, I believe. I’m pretty sure FF is considered a must watch before DD, but want to make sure I’m not missing anything without spoiling things.

I honestly can’t remember being excited for a marvel production since Loki Season 2, but I am for DD and don’t want to be lost.
