Regardless, I'm glad you each gave it a shot. Just like any sport, there are good and bad games. IMO, there were a lot of really good matches during this World Cup, with a few bad ones (cough cough, US/ Belgium) sprinkled in.

Overall, it seems like visiting nations came away impressed with the US, so I'd call the tournament a success from a worldwide perspective. Hopefully, some of the animosity between the US and everyone else has subsided.

From your perspective you should just never get officially married. Completely fine and a personal choice. You just lose out on the financial benefits of being married, your buddy is losing out on the other end for making 2 stupid decisions in not finalizing the divorce and buying before it was finalized.

I get where your heads at but marriage is a contract between you, your spouse and uncle Sam at the end of the day.

Just got back from watching.

Overall, I enjoyed it. The use of sound and music was incredible. Truly a film where the best way to see it is in a theater. I'm not sure many home theater setups would be able to do it justice.

A few segments really stand out. The Trojan Horse, cyclops, Hades, and Circe are the ones that come to mind.

I will say, and I realize that I might get flamed for this, but the characterization of Odysseus was kind of lacking. Wise Odysseus. Clever Odysseus. Smartest of the Greeks. We didn't see much of that guy. And the opportunity was there. For example, they established that the cyclops could speak. So, why not have Odysseus talk to him like he does in the source material. His cleverness is what gets them out of that jam, but it doesn't play that way in the film. His character just felt a little flat. Not bad. Just a bit more muted than I was expecting.

No I didn’t say it’s about greed. And I don’t think the main character was a toxic male, at least not until the scene you describe. I think the main character was weak and a coward, but he basically was Jim Halpert in seasons 1-3 of the office.

Honestly it’s a pretty relatable scenario. He had feelings for a friend but was simply too much of a coward to tell her how he felt. She gave him a point blank opportunity to do so and he chickened out. Then he wished that she would love him so it’d be obvious, but ope that was a huge mistake.

And the “toxicity” if you want to call it that, definitely went both ways. She clearly played with his feelings. She badgered him to come to trivia when he said no twice, she obviously knew he liked her and said things like “when I have a crush on a guy they’ll never know”, and she was sleeping with his friend in secret. Which I’m not saying is wrong, but both of them were hiding that from the main character intentionally for a reason.
