Not really, House will be codified as well which also enable enforcement of it with subpoena power. And the pooling provisions will enable more market negotiating leverage for the B12, especially if they pool with the ACC (at a minimum).

I think the asset division will always be messy but the child custody is very clearly slanted in one direction and not always for reasons that make sense.

What responsibility is the homemaker taking on for that decision? If they file for divorce, they know they will be awarded spousal support and assets to make up for that lost time. Relatively risk-free decision for that party. The higher earner has to pay for their ex's lost time in the workforce but they don't receive adjusted custody to make up for the lost time with the child, it's a double negative. That's the problem.

Disagree on that. That is a highly onerous penalty on several counts (media payout cuts, exit fees, finding teams to play for all sports, etc.) over 5 years.

A B12/ACC merger with realignment into 3 conferences would be a more favorable solution both financially and competitively.

Boys:
Baseball/Basketball/Track & Field = 2A

Football = 2A

Girls:
Softball/Basketball/Volleyball = 3A, Track & Field 2A

My assumption is they want to join the South Central Conference, since it makes the most sense geographically and enrollment-wise; they would be 6th in enrollment in the SCC vs. last in the LHC.

Additionally, everyone except for Knoxville and Clarke (3A) is 2A in the SCC, so they would be competing against the same-size competition. And, in reality, neither Knoxville nor Clarke is dominant in the SCC, so PC would compete with no issues.

PC enrollment for 26/27 is 240; in the LHC, the next smallest school is Oskaloosa at 465.

It depends on the money but I don’t think they add lot of value. Oregon and Washington couldn’t even move the needle enough to get a full share. Virginia is like Cal in that it just doesn’t care about athletics and UNC is very quickly becoming irrelevant not just in football but in basketball. Also I don’t think you get UNC without Duke which is kinda a non starter.

There really isn’t a reason to add them

A merger without expansion of the existing 33 would likely be permitted. And it should be permitted giving PCSA media rights pooling provisions and rational realignment into 3 11-team conferences. Add in unequal revenue sharing based on TV ratings/CFP success and deeper pocketed new TV partners (that should also legally have access to CFP rights), you got a situation where Miami FL approaches B10/SEC payouts and they don't have to go through independence hell for 5 years.

And it's no secret amongst most UNC higher ups that they would prefer restoration of a downsized ACC if the payouts approach those of the B10/SEC. And one can assume they don't want to screw with being an indy for five years.

Ehhh that’s hit enough for athletic expansion or they would have just grabbed Stanford and Cal. But different as it’s new states but you don’t expand the AD just for the academics, the academics are just the cherry on top, maybe the sprinkles too
