To be completely stupid. Dear god, they nailed it. I'll be back next week for more. 50% of the show is good and the other 50% is off the rails.
This episode was all over the place. Jimmy eating a Chicken Fried steak and learning to rope was the only coherent piece.
I wonder if insanity is their goal, at this point. I mean, it will bring me back but I honestly laugh out loud multiple times per episode. I feel like there's an inside joke and I'm being left out.
A dude is fighting, a day after getting stabbed, and he seemed to be doing OK. Were the horse meds still coursing through his veins?
I mean he had himself hopped up on tranquilizer meant for equines. Lloyd going from teaching the youngster to rope to smashing a guitar and knifing the owner? I seems like they just crammed a whole bunch of shots together and called it an episode.

My father-in-law worked with his dad at Cornell College. Said they're a very nice family.
I thought last night's episode got back to more of the storylines that made the show great before this season. Started to set some framework for some partnerships and angles for everyone to stop the Global Equities development. I will say we got quite a graphic scene with Jimmy and the horse though but it's not the first time he's been subject to animal genitalia as he had his arm up a cow's rear doing AI in the past too.
I never get tired of the scenes where Jamie thinks he is about to get what he thinks he has earned only for John and Beth to pull the rug out from under him and he looks like he is about to go cry in a corner. Will be interesting to see if he turns to the dark side and has his real dad do some more dirty work or if he finally stands up for himself and does something on his own.

I think the political angle with John now running for Governor will be very, very interesting in how the writers deal with all of the dirt they could uncover on him and the whole family. There are a couple of barns full of skeletons with this clan.
And just once I would like to see Jamie come out on top. He's not always especially sympathetic, but his character just gets so piled on, mostly by both his biological and adoptive family, that I find myself rooting for him, especially when it comes to Beth, who I still find more nasty than anything else, although she is not without her good moments.
Last night was another wasted episode. Started out with the 1883 show for the first 5+ minutes. Nothing happened the rest of the time and the spin-off 6666 show with Jimmy took up the majority of it. This season and show has really taken a dive and if my wife wasn’t so into it, I would be done watching it. This season has been one long, nothing of a show.

Couldn't help myself at the scene where they were debating about crossing the river or taking the ferry! Reminded me of playing the game as a kid and if you crossed at the wrong spot instead of taking the ferry you'd lose supplies or someone in your wagon. Only a matter of time till there is dysentery right?
In all seriousness though so far the show has not been over the top and feels like a real western. Been surprised by how good McGraw and Hill's acting has been too. We knew Sam Elliot would be good but I wondered how those 2 would be when the cost was announced.
