Yellowstone - new TV "western"

Yup! Every now and then I hope that he finds the acceptance that he so desperately seeks and he finds some happiness but then he falls into yet another trap where someone is using him for their own agenda. I will not be shocked if the demise of this character is eventual suicide. He's already so mentally fragile and unstable as it is that as soon as Sarah gets what she wants and ruins him in the process I don't know where else he has to turn because there is no going back on the wheels he will set in motion if he goes against his Dutton family once again. Either than or he's going to find himself on a ride to the train station.

One other thing that is a bit creepy is John and Summer. In real life Costner and Perabo are 21 years apart in age which is right on that line of "he's old enough to be your dad." Hoping there is more coming for her purpose on the show because right now it's just kind of a creepy fling. The storyline is supposedly he needs her to be his "environmental advisor" so when are we going to see her get involved with the mess they have going on with trying to use that angle to save their ranch.

I'm guessing the proposed pipeline gets moved to passing through the Yellowstone Ranch. This will be through Summer's input and will add much-needed money to the ranch, and will make Dutton a hero to the indians at the same time.

I really don’t like direction Sheridan took with season 4&5. It’s still a fun show but it’s just over the top unrealistic and not enough cowboying. The music is still great, I like the Zach Bryan song.

Costner is 19 years older than his actual wife so for him it might feel natural.

No problem if you use the "half your age plus seven" dating rule.

We had about a 1.5 year gap between seasons during covid so I can wait half a year for the rest of this season. Obvious they are setting up the 6666 ranch spin off too with this episode. Will watch 1923 tomorrow but so far the 1st 2 episodes have not impressed me as much as 1883 had by now.

Love the Tulsa King but never could get into Mayor of Kingstown. I am hoping they do a 1980s series with Josh Lucas as he's just so damn good as young John Dutton.

Oh. My. God.

That hour flew by and it's as intense an hour of TV as I've ever seen.

How am I supposed to wait a week?!?!

Assuming you're referring to episode 3 not that 2 was bad.

You assume correctly.

It’s kind of a shame 1923 is only 8 episodes. I’ve only seen 2 episodes so far and there’s a real lack of background given about each character besides Spencer.

I guess we’ll see how this ends but I wish Taylor would go more in-depth in these projects instead of trying to juggle 3-4 different shows.

Thoughts on 1923 so far? I'm still trying to grasp what is going on with the storyline with the nuns and young Indian girls. Some brutally violent scenes lately, hoping we get some perspective into how it ties into the bigger Yellowstone story line as just gets harder to watch the nuns and the 1 Indian girl just keep beating the crap out of each other or torturing her when she is disciplined.

As for the main storyline with the Duttons it finally has gotten interesting with the battle with the Irish sheep herder and Spencer's role with the ranch once he gets back to the US. Not enjoying this spin off as much as I did 1883. It's been OK but 1883 was so good that maybe I had higher expectations that 1923 could live up to that same quality.

I believe the last name of the girl that keeps getting disciplined is........Rainwater.

I like 1883 but I thought it was certainly slow at times.

I'm really enjoying it so far, although as you wrote some of the scenes can be tough to watch.

Personally, while the shows are certainly in the same family, I think one of the main differences between 1883 and 1923 is that the former was really an adventure-type of show with the pioneer aspect of a big, dangerous move from Texas to the Pacific NW, thrown in with a "coming of age" story for Elsa. 1883 is more of a drama-driven story about protecting what you have have from those who would take it from you. I understand comparing the two, but they are different shows.
