WVU "injuries"

What bothered me is that we didn't give the quarterback that scored 5 touchdowns last week a chance to see if he could succeed in the red zone when it was clear that the other quarterback was not succeeding in the red zone. It is even more baffling when the backup actually scored a TD in the red zone but it was called back due to a bogus call.

My BS meter is definitely registering high on this situation. Campbell has so many nice things to say about Joel, but then after the game all he says is that that defense dictated that it would be bad to bring Joel in because they were packing the box. Well in my experience a running team loves that, because you break the first line and you're gone. Either way I'm somewhat sore for Joel after his lack of playing time Saturday.
 
So when we apparently do it, Holgorsen is classless and a drunk. When you all do it, it's dismissed. It's your board so whatever, but it tells me all I need to know.

At this rate I think we found our rival...whole lotta bad blood over here.


So, Legion, are you admitting that you thought some of your guys were faking injuries or not? Has it "apparently" happened in any of your other games?

I think you are mixing up stacking the box with crowding the line of scrimmage.

Stacking the box : is used to counter running teams and it prevents the OL knowing who to block. you also add more defenders that will go unblocked down field and leads to easier tackling. if you break through the line you still have LBs and Safeties behind them.

crowding the line of scrimmage : like stacking the box you put a lot of defenders on the line. The defense is trying to get sacks and TFLs. You won't have layers of defenders like when you pack the box. This is where if you break through the line you are home free.

I hardly call you guys a rival. Mostly because I don't have anymore hate for WVU than other teams. We are suppose to be rivals with KSU too and it hardly feels that way.

So then set up quads and get man coverage on the edges, or force their backers to move out. Either way Lanning could have ran on them.
 
Excellent point. "Stingers" are another perfect example. You're convinced your arm is falling off but after a couple minutes you're good to go.

Based on this thread we should get rid of trainers...let the opposing fans diagnose injuries from the stands.

It happens with lots of teams, and I'm sure ISU has done it as well. But when it becomes a "Defensive Strategy" to fake injuries, that's when it turns into BS.

Holgerson obviously doesn't have a problem with it and likely encourages it. I just think it's a weak strategy.

I have a feeling if WVU was trying to run tempo and the opposing team did it over and over, WVU fans and even Dana would dislike it.
 
To add to this comment, when I played soccer years ago, during my prime (high school) there would be times where I would roll my ankle a little bit. It would be tender for a little bit, but after "walking it off" I was fine to run on it again. I assume the same thing happens to some of these players. The may pull/twist/roll something just very slightly, but after a short amount of time, are fine again.[/QU

Hate to draw that comparison. Soccer injuries are always legit.
