So Jamie sees the opportunity for a one year pause where what was gymnastics funding can be used to renovate spaces to prepare properly to get women's wrestling off the ground on a good foot as a smart approach, and he is probably right there.
He basically says women's gymnastics (particularly the athlete's families) didn't know their place in the heirarchy of athletics at ISU which was bad for cohesion in the department. Possibly true, but I don't know if I buy that totally. Regardless, ISU is a place that needs women's wrestling as a varsity sport and I am glad this is the moment they are able to make it happen, even if it comes at the ultimate expense of a struggling sport here.
