Worst team since 2016

Regardless, he needs to be benched. Any other position if they were playing that poorly would be benched. But everyone is treating Rocco with kid gloves. Campbell praising him post game…I don’t know who he thinks he’s fooling. At this point most people aren’t buying it.
Sometimes I think Campbell praises him, especially after the last two debacles of a performance from Rocco to not let him get further into his head then he already is while trying to work through the issue internally to the program. Either way, at this point throwing him out there is worse for him and the program when compared to benching him for a couple games to let him work through whatever issues he has. At this point in the season, just get the 6th win so we can at least make a bowl game and burn the tape on this season.

Jesus, that's awful. It's bad enough to say that to an adult, but terrible to say to a kid.

We all need to remember that none of us are as committed to this as the coaches and players are. We might feel like we are, but we aren't. I know we all feel like we are, but we aren't spending hours all day every day for 4-5 years sweating, straining, thinking and bleeding for Cyclone football. We can move on to basketball or wrestling or whatever.

When you have an eggs and bacon for breakfast, the chicken was involved but the pig was committed. In a similar way us fans are involved with Cyclone athletics but the players and coaches are committed.
Still trying to process how we are to react to all of this. Some of the numbers I’m hearing these kids are getting are more than I’ll make in the next 10 or 20 years…or maybe ever in a few cases.

They need to move to a true NIL setup…or if it’s going to be pay for play, it almost has to be performance-based. The current model is going to ruin college sports for fans and athletes alike.

It used to be that you could say “these are just 18-23 year old kids” and we should give them a break. Well, now they are 18-23 year old paid professionals just like anyone else that age who has a full time job. I don’t think age is an excuse for any paid professional.

I’ve wondered why NIL payments to players are not available to the public. It’s a tax supported public university, the financials of the athletic department are open to the public along with all the coaches contracts and staff salaries. The amount paid to these players, I assume, are known within the program in order to retain existing or “sign” new personnel. We all know at the pro level that players that are high draft choices or attained by offering more money get more opportunities to produce than warranted. The secrecy of NIL is a problem but probably accepted to keep a bidding war for some 5 Star 18 year old to play out in public or the same situation for some productive player at a lower level college.

That’s kind of my thought. If you are getting paid a million dollars, I would assume you are pretty good at your job. If you’re not good at your job and getting that much…you’re probably about to get fired. Pay tied to performance would seemingly remove a lot of the vitriol while allowing for good play to be rewarded.

I’ve been harping this point for a couple years now. In the real world if your job is to perform some task or function you’d best perform. If you don’t the bosses will find someone who will. Tired of watching teenagers get paid more than most average people and shitting the bed while they do it.

This is easily the worst football team I’ve seen since 2016. Not a single NFL player on either side of the ball. Awful execution and focus in all three phases of the game.

Strangely the best unit on the team this year is the O line. Clanton you’ve done a good job.

Mouser should not have an OC job next year. His passing schemes are incredibly simplistic and rely on having NFL receivers.

Problem is, what improvement can we make? There isn’t any talent on the 2 deeps on either side of the ball, and we cannot poach any good players (see Chase Sowell, lol what a waste of money). Try to keep the OL and ditch the rest I suppose.
Disagree.

I’m old enough that after what we’ve been through the past four weeks I take a step back from the ledge and remind myself that this is a game played by youngsters for the entertainment of the masses. I don’t rip on the players because I know from experience how hard they work and that they don’t intend to lose. On the other hand, coaches are evaluated by results. CMC knows what he is doing and if this ship continues to sink he needs to: evaluate staff starting with OC play selection, determine if there is any relationship between practice and training that is leading to injury (3 kickers kicking too much? Cornerbacks, LB’s, Safety’s too much in season live hitting?). Personally Mouser is too inexperienced and in over his head. Bottom line this is a coaching problem not a player problem.
Well said!

So should we kick players off the team and put an ad on LinkedIn or Indeed looking for a new college football player? That's how it works for any other paid professional.

I say no, but it’s true that they’re being paid like employees, this isn’t true name, image and likeness. These guys aren’t doing commercials for car dealerships and dentists.

And because of that I don’t think your question is as far-fetched as you think. NIL needs to be brought back to earth instead of the Wild West that it currently is.

I'm not sure how this happens legally though.
