Worst team since 2016

Rocco has regressed terribly and these WRs aren’t helping. So many drops, bad routes, and - when they do get it right - Rocco just misses them.

Such a weird game. Feel on one hand like we could and should have won by 10+. On the other hand I feel like we’re lucky we didn’t get blown out. Just confusing to watch is these last 4 games.

Season turned on that hit at Cincy. Rocco needs to sit and has needed to sit.
You’re going to get roasted for saying this but it’s true. It literally cannot get any worse. Why not try something else?

What was it about the hit? Did the staff leave a concussion undiagnosed and we've been witnessing a QB playing thru something that even nfl QBs aren't allowed to play thru? Or is it something else? Psyche related?

As bad as this season has become, 2022 is still worse, but (1) you kind of expected some drop-off after departures from 2021 team (2) '22 wasn't ranked in preseason then started 5-0.

This could end 5-7 or 9-4 with (some kind of) bowl win. We know which is more likely on that continuum. At this point, getting to something in the 2018/2021 results might be about the best we can hope.

This is easily the worst football team I’ve seen since 2016. Not a single NFL player on either side of the ball. Awful execution and focus in all three phases of the game.

Strangely the best unit on the team this year is the O line. Clanton you’ve done a good job.

Mouser should not have an OC job next year. His passing schemes are incredibly simplistic and rely on having NFL receivers.

Problem is, what improvement can we make? There isn’t any talent on the 2 deeps on either side of the ball, and we cannot poach any good players (see Chase Sowell, lol what a waste of money). Try to keep the OL and ditch the rest I suppose.
I would say the most disappointing, but there’s a strong case.

This season has a 2002 feel to it, although that team did manage to win a game in mid November after losing out in October.

After last week, I predicted we would be 5-5 going into the KU game, and sadly that seems probable at this point. No game left on the schedule should be chalked up as an easy win. We are as likely to go 0-3 as 2-1. I don't care if Ok St is bad. So are we.

7-5 would be a pleasant turn around from where we are right now, and that is a pathetic statement to make.

We just don’t have the ponies on defense to get lucky like we did last year when the injury bugs bite. Plus, I really do think losing Onyedim and watching Verdon get horrible NFL advice are massive losses that swing the pendulum in games like this.

On a side note, Marcus Neal is by far the best player on the team.

I have thought that exact same thing since the Colorado game. This team has lost its Mojo and the offense seems lost out there. Poor passes, drops, injuries and the defense allowing huge plays over and over. We are stuck in a rout where when the offense is sharp, the defense takes the game off, the next week its the opposite. Hopefully after the bye they can get healthy and refocus, but right now, we will be lucky to win two more games.

There's also 1980, which might be an even closer comparison:

Started 5-0, including wins over KSU and Iowa.
Lost the next 5.
Finished the season at Oklahoma State, where they picked up a narrow win.

"Numerically," I definitely see comparison to '80 (especially with having at OSU as regular season conclusion).

I might lean a little more toward it being like 1981. Started 5-1-1. Tied OU — not a great OU team, and probably should have won, but was considered "big deal" at the time. Beat Iowa at home (UI ended up Rose Bowl that season, ugh). Defeated Missouri (ranked at time of game). Lost four straight down the stretch, including one to KSU (finished 2-9).

But we're doing cart-before-horse, of course, of course, to presume 5-0 is going to turn worst-case second half this season. It's easy to start thinking "we've seen something like this a few times previously."

Agree, and what is the common denominator here? can anyone enlighten me on what happened?

6 win team. Period. Then we will get told how we need to give more to make **** better.
I make six figures and I was shocked at buying a corn dog & a mountain dew before the game and it was $20.00. Didn't bother me but how do a lot of people afford to take a couple kids to the game now a days. Funny before halftime they were out of foot the two places we took my granddaughter to, oh well had a nice steak at Texas Roadhouse on the way home.
