Who do you want to see in the big 12?

My issue with BYU is not about Mormonism at all. First is the geography issue. Second is the no Sunday play issue for minor sports. They are the ones who have to be accommodated, by everyone else in the conference. Third, they have a reputation for being difficult to deal with. Right or wrong, that is their reputation. One of the reasons no one has knocked down their door for membership. Fourth, the Big 12 does not need BYU. BYU needs the Big 12. Can't see why Big 12 members have to make concessions to accommodate BYU for Conference membership. All rules should apply equally to All members.
Concerning a Football Only membership. BYU gets $6 million per year from ESPN for their home football games. Media Rights deals cover all sports. If BYU is Football Only, then offer them $10 million per year. Take it or leave it. No one else is knocking down their door. And they would have no vote on Conference decisions. Those are my terms. This is strictly business.
Hate is a strong word, but the idea of not adding BYU because they don't want to play on Sunday for religious reasons is discriminatory. BYU has competed in collegiate sports for a long, long time and their conference teams have been willing to make the accomodation to not compete on Sundays.
Not sure how an entity sticking to their moral/religious viewpoint constitues having a huge ego! IMO refusing to accept BYU because of it religious requrements shows someone with a huge ego and very close minded. Part of the issue we are having in the US today- differences in race, religion or opinions are not respected.
Geography is overrated. Pretty much everything is a connection anyway and the real flight times for the non charter sports are security etc. anyway.
Big 12 without network is about ratings not households. There are two schools that stand way above the rest in ratings nationally in football. BYU & Boise State.
Cincinnati checks all the boxes as they say and is potentially long term good for football in the Campbell era as it helps keep his Ohio pipeline alive.
Memphis/Houston I could live with either choice here. Memphis is investing a lot, and may bring Fed Ex sponsorship to Big 12 adding to the $. Houston large up and coming university with probably more long term potential than Memphis. Texas may not like it, but this is my wish list.

Cincinnati checks all the boxes as they say and is potentially long term good for football in the Campbell era as it helps keep his Ohio pipeline alive.

I think allowing teams to come back in shows strength of the conference to the nation. Whether true or not, we look like a good conference because these others left and the grass wasnt so green.
Why stop at adding 4. Let's be the first to get to 18. (Does the ACC have 18 already? I cant keep track of that conference.)
Take back CU and get BYU and CSU to expand west, give them some travel breaks and take CSU just to have the whole state and that rivalry game.

Take back Mizzou and grab Arkansas from the SEC.

We are not in that position though. And we are in a much better position today than before. Passionate fanbase. Selling out 60,000 seat stadium. Basketball programs are very solid. Solid academics. The only thing we lack is television sets. And football history.
Agree the ACC won't happen but UCONN should. I was against UCONN for those reasons originally, but I was convinced.
1. It will be a target of the ACC so taking them weakens them.
2. Distance isn't really an issue if we make a bridge that way.
3. I would anticipate support to grow in a p5 conference.
I see the best path to take Cincinnati and UCONN now and then wait a couple years until we can poach an ACC school.
How interesting would it be if it were Texas or Oklahoma that the P12 took to replace Colorado?
A number of the schools continually mentioned here are AAC schools. ESPN already has these schools in their portfolio, and are paying quite a bit less money for them than they would be if they became part of a P5 conference. The AAC schools are getting around $10 million / year for their TV deal. Houston, Memphis, UCF, USF, UConn, etc. suddenly become worth $20 million more per year just because they move to the Big 12? That's hard to understand.
Grant of Rights. Why would Texas and Oklahoma take less money? Why would they want to play on the West Coast and get less exposure?
Texas and Oklahoma are the kings of the Big 12 and make boatloads of money. Do you honestly think they would leave?
Iowa State should be able to refuse to play Night football games in November. It is cold.
BYU left the Mountain West Conference because of MONEY. MONEY. MONEY. They chose Independent Status for football and rejected the Mountain West Conference. I really do not have sympathy for their situation that they chose for themselves.
Where is everyone getting this Arkansas idea? Is that a real possibility or just people wishing?
SEC doesn't have a GOR so they're technically available and they make geographic sense.
Just wishing on my part, but I think there is a chance. It doesnt seem like a for sure no to me. While it makes sense in my own head, I am not in the mood to try and explain/justify that on this board only to get my *** ripped.

It would be a two-for though in my opinion with Mizzou (assuming they are the other that wants back in). I think we could sell the rest of the SEC on splitting their pie two fewer ways.
Us not playing football juggernauts every week so we can go to bowl games. Our fan base travels so well it is a shame we dont go to bowl games while other teams with no followings go.
Heck might as well and hit a home run here. Add all of the SEC teams and have 24 teams in our conference. Mizzery and Arkansas get added to our league and the winner of each division plays in the championship. Boom
