Iowa State was originally supposed to have white helmets with new logo. Fan base clamored for red instead.

I don't remember this

If white is all it takes to make some of you happy ... sigh.

Yes. This is all we wanted. The team can go 0-12 for the next 10 years and we'll all be fine with it.

No it's not ALL it takes to make us happy, but it's a step in the right direction. The previous staff was diametrically opposed to change and doing things that were considered trendy. This staff doing the exact opposite is a breath of fresh air.

Somehow the whole thing reminds me of the rules about white shoes only between Memorial Day and Labor Day and matching your purse with your shoes.

And don't the Dallas Cowboys wear white at home most of the time? Not that we're the Cowboys.

Boy, I'm surprised the "all white" look passed the Jamie Pollard Cultural Insensitivity Test.

We aren't approaching that. It's not like the human being is our mascot.

Could someone who's good at photoshop edit my avatar with a new white helmet and jersey? I'd be eternally grateful.

Exactly. And the kids (recruits) eat this stuff up. It does make a difference in the program's culture that you often hear Coach Campbell talk about.

I hope white helmets and white pants do not become the home uniform. Maybe one game a year to satisfy all of the white helmet supporters that don't like the cardinal and gold school colors.

But the cardinal and gold really pop on a white helmet...I love it. I would also love cardinal and gold on gray...also makes it stand out.

I think the mostly cardinal "I-State" on a cardinal helmet is atrocious. Contrast is key on a helmet.

I wouldn't mind a permanent white helmet but the problem with the white helmet is that you have to incorporate more white into the jersey or pants. Cardinal jerseys/white pants and then white jerseys/cardinal pants might work...especially with the stripes to pull it all together.

Just because the colors are cardinal and gold doesn't mean EVERYTHING has to be cardinal and gold.

The Cowboys wear white home and road. Only when an opposing team tries to invoke the blue jersey jinx by wearing their white at home are the Cowboys forced to break out the blue. They will sometimes break out the blue at home for special occasions as well.

Sweet. I like how the yellow in the "I" outline and "State" is more "gold-looking" too. This will be a good look for the road games this year. Heck, wear them once for a home game too. (Please tell me that two gold stripes are going down the center of the cardinal helmets too.)

Hopefully because the Cardinal helmet is pretty damn bland.
