Where are some good fish fry's?

Pretty pumped for fish fry season in NE IA.

Every small town bar in the Driftless Area puts one on, it seems. The Long Branch in Florenceville is my favorite.

Masonville Iowa. Friday and Saturday nights between waterloo and Dubuque along Hwy 20 by Manchester. The place is called R-Place. Amazing fried fish. Imo best on planet earth. Best onion rings on planet earth and its non negotiable.

All Fish Fries are not the same. They are based upon a Fish Quality to Line length Ratio. A fish fry with a line under an hour is amateur hour. The Line must be a solid 2 hours and multiple stops for beer. Fort Calhoun in Nebraska has been fabulous in the past. Michelob Amber Bach on tap. Most of the fish at fish frys are cod or white fish. They have a very small amount of fish flavor in them. Fort Calhoun has cajan or regular fish. They also have waffle fries. I AM READY FOR FISH FRY SEASON!!!! best time of the year. Remember you are drinking for the kids but, dont be the guy that brings your kids. No kids want to stand in line while parents get hammered and nobody wants to be around a screaming sober family for 2 hours either.

Anyone have any recs for a fish fry in or around Dubuque (into Wisconsin too)? My girlfriend and I are looking for a good one. We were thinking of just driving up around Madison for one on Friday. Any ideas of something closer? Hole in the wall type place?

Just look for a Catholic Church since Lent starts Valentines Day and ends April 1st (Ash Wednesday-Easter)
