I think there was a post that day on CN, plus everyone was getting really tired of the BS there... I arrived that day, but was under a diff username, and did not create this one for a few months.

I don't think there was that much white space. These websites were optimized for those old school low resolution monitors. Viewing them on modern computers compresses them a bit. But certainly, there was more white space back then than there is now
