Some interesting background stuff but man did it bounce all over the timelines and storylines. Woof!
at leastSo, are they now running 3 timelines?
at least
Exactly. In last nights episode alone they had for certain 3, but could have been more like 4 or 5 if you are going off of actual timestamps. Was the initial scene with Arnold and Delores moments before Logan gets shown that demonstration? How far after the scene of William showing his Father-In-Law Westworld was he with Delores showing her that "Weapon"? Was Logan shooting up during the party even after that? I think most can be assumed based on logic, but if there is one thing about this show I have learned there is always some sort of slight of hand going on.What's a timeline in this show. They seem to be telling the show in 3 different time periods, but I don't think they are even showing events sequentially within those time periods at times.
So, are they now running 3 timelines?
I agree. I think any scene where William is a savvy business man was after his and Logan's first visit to the park that we saw. That's what he meant by telling Delores that she helped him find himself.I think at least 4, no?
(2) Westworld is built. William and his father-in-law plan to steal information from guests to leverage the value of the park. I assume that William has already been on his Season 1 trip with Logan and falls for Dolores. There is a scene where William wakes up Dolores and rips her. He also shows her some secret build in the park. Both his discussion with his FIL (in front of a "shut down" Dolores) and his showing Dolores the build will come back to be important as part of what Dolores now remembers.
Long, Far-Out Theory: (somewhat spoilers, but nothing that is certain, just speculation)
I think Wiliams Father in Law is going to be a part of the "Deeper Meaning" of Westworld, that Bill and Delores keep bringing up.
I think Williams Father in Law somehow transfered his consciousness into bot form of some sort.(or something along those lines, still coming up with this theory.)
There was the scene of him and Will talking the first time he goes to west world. A line was brought up by the FiL about how, he doesn't care for this park because the benefits of the park wouldn't matter to him in 20 years because he'd be dead. We know that Will took over the company, so it can be assumed that FiL died at some point. Why is Will the only one who knows the "True Meaning"? My Assumption is, if Delores is talking about the same True Meaning that she was told by an old friend, then it is either Arnolds game for hosts to gain conciousness and eventually leave and take over the real world (which Arnold felt that the Hosts almost deserved more than real people, because they see the beauty in it). Or she is talking about the True Meaning that William knows, and he told her at some point along the way.
The only reason I think that the FiL could possibly have transferred his consciousness into a host, or into the park, somehow, was because of that ever-popping up photo of Arnold and Ford. There is a 3rd man in the middle of them that nobody talks in more detail about, and he looks relatively close to the FiL without a goatee. Was Abernathy the host that was created in memory/image of Will's FiL? Is that why he is such an important peice to the Delos team?
There are certainly some holes in this theory, but I seriously think there has to be something more to the Father in Law story and his footprint on Westworld.
add-on: This is also with me assuming that Ford was lying to Bernard last Season when he said that Arnold built that host family as a replica to his(Ford's) family. And was actually made by or for another co-creator/founder.
Interesting. Also might explain why Abernathy went crazy in Season 1. He was looking at a picture of his daughter.
It would be interesting to go through the cocktail party in slow motion. Abernathy was one of the original builds. Was he there in the room? Clementime and Angela were there. Dolores was not since Arnold told Ford that she was not ready.
All I was able to notice was Clementine and Angela as well. But that is a good point. Again, my theory has many loose ends, but I think there is something deeper there than just William taking over for his father in law and that is that.Interesting. I get this and the Black Sails theme stuck in my head a lot. Similar styled openings and both awesome musicI've had the Westworld theme song stuck in my head most of the day.
