West Coast fires

NYT this morning talked about a large problem is just overbuilding in these areas. The houses burn down and people seem to have short memories. They said the states and the people were not going to stop building. The only hope is that insurers stop insuring these homes in risk zones. Of course when they try this the states cry.

Talk about starting out life with a disadvantage...imagine your parents killed people and/or destroyed communities to announce your birth.

Do we know the parents aren't Genghis Khan?

Our daughter’s family is in Corvallis, Oregon. Last night their air quality app measured 434 on a scale of 0-500. They haven’t been outside all week.

Yeah we haven't either, first time we haven't walked dogs every day in 12 years. I've seen some readings over 500.

Like getting the houses right on the edge of the coast while the coast lines are only getting worse.

Same thing can be said for southern east coast of US and the gulf with hurricanes.

Are the crying states making these companies do business there?

Went on a walk last night and the haze was making the sun into an orange ball.

Reminds me of two years ago when Canada was having their fires. The U.P. felt like it was dusk all afternoon.

Looks like it's supposed to get smokey in IA in a few days. I think it might have just started to get a bit clearer here in NW WA. But I can still feel it in my lungs when I first leave the house.

I couldn’t believe how hazy it was in Iowa yesterday. Could barely see the sun all day, we had a few Hazy days during the canadian wildfires a few years ago but nothing like yesterday. Just crazy

Yeah, you can smell the smoke a lot here in eastern Iowa. Closed up the house last night.

Nope, but that's what it's going to take, and until that happens I don't feel bad for the businesses at all.

This was supposed to be start of my annual backpacking trip through Sierras.

Been watching weather closely even though I cancelled trip a few days ago. The region I was heading toward is getting 40-90mph winds in the next few days. Really bad timing for that.
