Okay, I'm biased, bored at work, and just looking to throw out an option that I think would be a great fit for ISU's presumed coaching vacancy.

Wes Miller. UNC-Greensboro.

He's been considered one of the Top young coaches in the game. He's a UNC Alum, but is not your typical 5* UNC Player turned coach. He transferred in from a small school as a walk-in to play himself into the line-up. Benefit being, he knows about Culture (CMC reference) and he's built one at a small school (CMC reference), and he knows about winning championships (CMC Reference). Point being this guy may not be coming from a DII School, but he won at the highest level as a player, and had to grind his way there. I'm excited to see his next stop, and hope its in Ames.

Downside.... If he succeeds, and UNC came calling post Roy... he gone.

He's on the shortlist of Carolina Family Hires post Roy... just needs a P5 Stop to prove he can hack the higher level.

ETA: Plus Iowa / Big12 has been friendly to UNC coaches in the past for career development / recruiting players.

Games in Iowa... not as well for UNC.

Wes Miller would absolutely be a great coach. The concern is a regional one. Can he recruit the Midwest effectively? I think the fact that CSP has little ties to the Midwest and tried and failed at recruiting the SE would work against hiring another mid-major coach from the SE.
But Miller will be at a Power 5 school in the next 2-3 years.

Admittedly without knowing much about him, I'd be concerned with recruiting ties. It would be a huge mistake for JP to hire anyone without recruiting ties to the upper midwest.

Hey, lets keep this UNC train running and Hire Bobby Frasor (Top Chicago HS Coach) as an asst. AND bring in Marcus Paige as a GA.

I know nothing about him but if our concern was that he'd be good enough here to get the UNC job then I think that's acceptable.

Yeah, frankly, for Iowa State football and men's basketball, if blue bloods' ADs and NFL/NBA GMs aren't sniffing around regarding our coaches them we probably aren't happy with how things are going.

I actually was looking at potential coaches and he stuck out to me, but I didn’t bring him up because he’s pretty green and idk how he’d fair in the Midwest/Big12. He’s definitely young with a lot of upside though.

When Wake hired Forbes instead of Miller, that was essentially a signal that Miller is waiting on UNC to open.

You think UNC will go to a coach that isn’t in the P5? I think he has to do something else first. The alums would not be happy with that progression.

The Wake practice facility is named after Miller's Dad. When he supposedly passed on that job as well as other jobs, it was likely a clear signal that he will replace Roy Boy.

I think his name has been mentioned in other threads before, but the more I think about it the more I like Scott Nagy, currently at Wright State and at South Dakota State before that. He's won everywhere he's been and he's still relatively young as well. I think he's worth a look.

If Steve is gone.......worth a good, hard look.

The issue with Nagy is that his only P6 experience was 30 years ago as a GA. Prohm's lack of P6 experience is one of several factors impacting his performance.
