Week 3 - Akron - Sept 16th

As a Cleveland area resident and self described expert on all things. Here's my piggyback report to the OP.

Skip the NFL and Rock Hall of fames. Both are overpriced for the experience and something you'll look back on as a disappointment.

Cedar Point Halloweekends starts that weekend. They open the park later in the day, tickets are cheaper, crowds/lines are lighter than normal. At night they make the park "haunted" with fog machines, roaming monsters and mutiple haunted houses to walk through.
.

Here is a way to get all 3 for some savings: https://www.cedarpoint.com/?promocode=profootball Saves $12 a person

I quite liked the Rock and Roll Hall of fame. NFL Hall is definitely overpriced but I liked it.

What's everyone doing for tickets? Should I assume it will be easy to walk up and get gameday tickets?
I tried planning a party suite on here a couple months back when they went on sale, but that fell through. We got GA tickets, plan on sitting as close to mid field as possible in the upperdeck on our side.

We ended up going GA too.

If anyone else is looking into this, you can get $15 GA tickets by calling the Akron ticket office directly. No fees or nothing.

Who's going to the Akron game and where are you (and other Cyclones) sitting? I prefer to get seat close to other Cyclones, when possible.

We're sitting in the GA section. Just looking for other Clone fans up there and a good view of the field.

Based on Akron's general attendance patterns, I'd bet on a healthy ISU contingent, with most (if not all) sitting up there.

We are almost a month away from our first road game against the Akron Zips in Akron Ohio. This one is particularly important to me because I grew up in the Akron area. So I put together a little guide to help people who might be going out there next month. I can answer any questions you guys might have too!

See you there!

Parking/Tailgating

IMAGE OF LOTS

Lots 9, 10, and 6 are the most popular lots with 9 being the best lot to tailgate in. However it is reserved mainly for season ticket holders and may or may not be available to us Cyclones. Lots 72/74 are probably a good backup plan. I believe Cycsk is setting something up in one of the lots.

2015, thanks for starting this thread. It is very informative. It will be great to see you again and this time in Akron.

Unfortunately, the site freezes every time I open your thread (in Chrome, my usual browser), so I'm posting this through Firefox and then I will start my own thread so I can see the replies.

Indeed, I have rented Lot 4 in Akron so that we can hold a tailgate for Iowa State fans, as well as family and friends of the fourteen members of the football staff who have roots in northeast Ohio.

Please send me a PM if you want to park in the lot and/or if you want to join us for the food, drinks, and games we will be providing. We also have a Facebook event page that we will give to anyone who sends me a PM to ask for it. I don't want to post it here lest we get trolled. It should be a great time in the Rubber City.

Go Cyclones!

Don't buy tickets on Stub Hub. Almost all of them are on the press box side and you will be sitting with Akron fans (if they show up). Buy general admission tickets for $15 through the Akron ticket office. No fees.

Well it's been over 24 hours since the ass game. Time to go to Akron! This is a unique situation for me and I might be even more pumped up this game than the last for this year. Been circled since we announced it. Let's go clones!

I'm flying in Thursday and I will be there until Monday. Hope you folks going to the game enjoy Akron! Here to answer any questions

Pretty cool that we are finally going to Akron, home of the one and only 2015! Looking forward to seeing you again.

P.S. Don't you think you should keep "Akron" in your Profile location? At least for this week.

Currently on a plane to Detroit and from there will fly to Akron. Let's go State!

Late week bump for last minute researchers

Maybe it's just another classic example of the Monica Lewinsky effect, but I'd do just about anything to get a press box half that nice inside JTS...

Landed in Akron and a guy decked out in Akron Zips gear at the airport saw me and said "dude, **** Iowa State".

Ah... Home.

We left Ames at 4am and are approaching Chicago. Half-way to Akron with truck and trailer loaded with tailgate gear. Ready to see the Zips get unzipped.

Leaving on a plane from Akron in the next few minutes. Thank you to all the Cyclone fans that came out! Hope Akron treated you well!
