Sheesh, the Des Moines area is getting a convective train run over them. Been 5-6 waves of storms already and it keeps backbuilding.

It is raining hard out there right now. I never wake up during storms, but the heavy rain woke me up tonight. Still a strong line of storms that have to move through the area it looks like.

I'm thankful that it appears that the Waterloo area has missed most of the stuff tonight. My parents don't need anymore rain.

Our flight to DSM got diverted to OMA at 8:30 last night. Had to rent a car in Omaha to get home last night.

We had over 7" of rain in Waukee along with light hail. Walnut Creek runs through our neighborhood and instead of being 10 feet wide is about 1/4 mile wide.

Had 4.5" of rain in the past 24 hours in Grimes, noticed some standing water in fields on the way to work this morning and passed over Walnut creek on NW 128th St in Clive and it was way out of its banks. I see the flood gates at 63rd and grand are down now too

I'm shocked it hasn't been mentioned much yet but they are forecasting the Raccoon River at Fleur to get up to around 23 ft. It overtops Fleur at 17 ft.

Not shocking when you look at the rain that fell in the vast majority of the the basin(the whole area just to pounded):

Something huge bounced off my roof around 2am which scared the bejeebus out of me. Woke up to look at the rain and it was blinding. Absolutely crazy. I'd believe the 7in mark. Probably a lot of people with wet basements, thankfully I'm not one of them.

Raccoon river at Fleur is now projected to hit 24.1 feet. 3rd highest all time. Too bad for everyone who thought they were going to the River Bank Bash there on Saturday...
