IMO Austin has great physical skills, but he is making the same mistakes he made all last year. Terrible job of reading defense and throwing into coverage. Glad I'm not the coach who has to make the decision, but I would be giving JT more snaps in practice this week.

It had to be done, sadly. I kindof wish after the third pick they would have put Tiller in for a series just as a wake up call to Arnaud. He definately had his head up his *** today.
There is NO excuse for that in any game...and especially one of the biggest games of the season.
Arnaud is still the man. Today, the pressure got in his head and he became a liability. Per the coaches, he has the best grip on the offense that Herman wants to run. Until he proves that today is the rule and not the exception, he's the man.

One cold day does not a winter make. Ne need to panic. AA has worked hard for a long time to earn his spot. That was probably a top 10 defense today. Let's see how he responds to a little adversity. He's still got the ability and we have seen him perform very well against tough teams before. You don't replace the engine if it dies once. Might just be a little water in the gas. Maybe it will pass.

Has the offense changed much at all from McFarland's days? I only went to a couple games in the McFarland era, but I noticed a lot of shotgun and bubble screens that never worked. Saw a lot of the same today. Not trying to rag on Herman here but with Robinson, it seems a Pro-style offense would be more fitting.
Maybe the chants were unnecessary. However, it was the right move to bring him in. Arnaud needed to get out of there. Throwing another pick or two wouldn't have helped his confidence.
I didn't hear the chants. That's disappointing. Arnaud did have a very bad game, but Iowa's defense played really, really well. Arnaud forced too much, but he didn't have much to throw to, either.

Students were booing the hell outa Arnaud today. So goes the theory that Iowa fans are the only ones who boo the QB.
That being said, I was sweating it out the entire first half. Very much sweating it. And for the record, I was there in my ISU stuff, not wearing any Hawkeye apparel in the student section. I think those guys are douchebags.

Tiller has about half the athletic talent of Arnaud. Maybe instead of benching Arnaud, Rhoads should have taken playcalling away from Herman...

Arnaud looked awful, he needed to be pulled. You can't risk absolutely killing any confidence he might have. I still don't understand why we didn't run the ball more than we did though. If they're going to give you 5 yards a crack, take it. Arnaud still locks on to his receivers really bad.
No, I understand your point, but we left the other starters in, on both sides of the ball - why just pull Arnaud?
That's also a fair point, but I'd argue that reps at QB are much more valuable than reps at another position. Besides, what other position played as poorly as Arnaud did? He's still our guy; he just didn't have it today.
This loss doesn't have me all that upset at all, really. It's not like we should have won and ****** it down our legs. We still have a decent shot at starting 3-1, and I would have taken a 72-0 loss to Iowa if you could guarantee me that we'd start 3-1.
AA was horrible all game and needed to be pulled. He is still the Clones best, first option, but he was lost out there today. ISU had way too many TOs and penalties. The actually looked pretty good running the ball and really didn't give it enough of a chance to succeed. Of course the penalties forced them into passing situations way to much.
