Some things people have forgotten fairly quickly.
1. We played very well against Texas in the manner that we are looking for.
2. We lost two decent players since then. Boozer was the spark plug and Lucca, while not phenominal, still provided decent minutes. This has forced us to give more minutes to people further down the bench.
3. We are a MUCH better team with Ham than without. Today, along with the NDSU game are proof of that. He's not a great player, but he does a lot of things people don't notice, and Dendy can't give alot of minutes and be effective against the big bodies of the conference. The refs decided to pick on Ham today and he spent most of the game on the bench.
4. We have a couple of good young players wearing redshirts. Bubu will surprise people and Oliver has quick hands.
5. It would be nice to have a healthy JVB and Boozer right now.
The injuries are not Mac's fault and Lucca bolting really isn't either. The chemistry was finally coming together when Booze went down. It's really still there, but the players (except Ham who had to sit down) let the poor officiating get into their heads and IMO caused them to throw in the towel.
Colvin, although a freshman, is an improvement talentwise over Garrett. Gilstrap is an improvement as well. The key to moving this program forward is to continue to bring in better talent. As long as we are progressing here, everything will come together. And as long as Mac and the staff continue to do that, there is no reason to pull the plug and start over.
