We get to stomp on a Hawk flag

Meh, much ado about nothing. Just fun rivalry stuff.

Here is a pic of a worker burying a Chiefs flag under the new Raiders stadium in Vegas.

But leave it to a stupid hok to (a) not take the pic, (b) put it in a parking lot.
I like the jab in the story about the Raiders being cursed. Hey Chiefs, you have championships in '62, '66 and '69 and haven't appeared in the Superbowl since that '69-70 season. The Raiders have championships in '67, '76, '80 and 83. So since the Chiefs last appeared in the Super Bowl the Raiders have four Super Bowl appearances and won three. Who is cursed again?

And no, I'm not a Raiders fan but that jab was really stupid.

People keep mentioning this jeopardizing future work with the university. Since it's a public university, is everything not done like other government contracts? Lowest bidder wins?

Hawk country? Iowa hasn’t won in Hilton in like 15 years right? Lol

While it's still more Hok oriented, I'd even say the C.R. area is less 'hawkeye' than it was even 10 years ago. Every time I'm back I feel like I see more ISU stuff.

Must drive the Hayden-era fans nuts to see how much has changed since Fry made the program...decent?

*anxiously awaits Pollard's public response to this ill-fated action (if true)*

Note: too bad half of Cyclone Nation won't get to see it if he tweets his response.

How exactly do they get a piece of the turf to take home? I can't imagine teams lettings them dig/rip up a chunk. Or do they mean like blades of grass/turf.

They mean sod, there is a Wikipedia article on their sod cemetery.

I think the Norte Dame ones were all bowl games, I know they tried and failed to take sod once from ND stadium, probably that grounds crew guy from Rudy. They play there again this year but ND doesn’t have real grass anymore.

Husband and I saw 1993 game there, the grass was safe.

Lowest bid that meets bid spec wins.

"Meets bid spec" is the key phrase. Bid spec can contain anything to prevent a contractor the order. For this instance, the bid spec could have a clause that precludes this vendor from future bidding for this very instance. This same bid spec method is often used to cherry pick a vendor; it can be used to prevent competition in bids.

First off, it’s probably untrue. If it was, he wasted money.
Second, numerous Manatt’s went to ISU. So if it’s true, it’s a stupid thing to brag about.
I'll see Brad tonight. I'll ask him about it. I'm sure he's not thrilled with the attention that this idiot is receiving.

When your talking "Branding" it is a big deal. I worked for Coca Cola several years, while in college. If our route driver was caught drinking a Pepsi product, automatic termination. Look at the $$$ ISU and college sports puts into their brand. It is a big deal.

The contract did not ask for this flag to be buried under the lot. I'd be telling the contractor to investigate and remove the flag. After it's removed then ISU should decide if they ever use this contractor again.

The person who posted this may end up losing his job, for being stupid but will never have to buy his own beer in IC again.

Y'all talking about tearing up the project, and firing the guy, may be taking this a bit far. We're talking about a thousands of dollars project, and a $2, 12 inch by 12 inch, flag from Wal-Mart.

He'll lose his job for bad publicity and being stupid. This is about professionalism. If I did something stupid at work and posted it to Facebook or tweeted it on Twitter you bet your a** I'd be fired.
