WBB recruiting-Iowa

She did say by Nov 8th last week.

Be interesting to see if she or Williams jumps first. Williams is tight with a couple TN recruits, though I have heard they have been communicating with Stokes too. Harrison's commitment confuses things a little.

Looks like one spot left for two players at Tennessee

Isabelle Harrison was wooed by Lady Vols GoVolsXtra

UConn, Georgia and Maryland have no post players committed for 2011, Rutgers has one post committed, but lower rated than Stokes, as does Iowa.

Stokes to decide this week | Hawk Central

Sounds like the decision might be on the 3rd or 4th.

Regarding Nesbitt, ouch. Iowa has a lot of backcourt talent this year but they are really hurting for backcourt depth.

I find their depth as a whole to be hurting. After Johnson in the post, they drop off to Cermak and Jade Rogers. Rogers will probably also play the four spot to spell Krei. Wahlin, Alexander and Printy are all solid players, but there is not much behind them with Nesbitt hurt and Taylor out for the year.

This made me laugh -

Kiah Stokes would Not embarass her family and friends by announcing at her HS that she is going anywhere else but Iowa.

I thought where is she supposed to announce this at the public library, her house, or the street? I have two feelings about this, 1 - she is going to go to Iowa, or 2 - she pulls a Harrison Barnes by getting all the Iowa fans in a frenzy and goes to either UConn or Tennessee.

Right. This draws enough local interest to warrant a press conference. If she's holding a press conference, it will happen at her high school. It has nothing to do with her choice, especially considering it sounds like her mind isn't made up yet (or wasn't a day or two ago at least).

The previous press conference for this stuff at Linn-Mar have been held in the library

If she referred to her by name it is NOT legal to do, a coach can only confirm or deny that they are recruiting someone. (But we have learned that IA may take some liberties with the rules in recruiting MBB and possibly WBB players:twitcy:)

If she spoke in generalities like, we are waiting on one more recruit and it is down to... then it is a grey area that is normally acceptable even though likely everyone knows who you are referring to.

Thanks. I was curious where she'd be making public statements about a recruit like that. I'm not sure what's legal and what's not.

She was very careful and never said the name. Recruit from Cedar Rapids is close to how she worded it.

She could have been talking about someone else.

Guys, here are the facts:

None of the players that have committed to Iowa has a scholarship offer from ISU. If Stokes commits – that would be the first and only one.

Virginia Johnson was never recruited to Iowa State. Christofferson is in the grade above her (2010). Poppens, Prins and Zimmerman were in the previous year's class (2009), so she wasn't a priority.

Logic took an unofficial visit to Iowa State as a junior and decided she wanted to play in the Big Ten and closer to home. At that point, Iowa State had not offered as they still had a lot of guards. Logic blew up this summer, and she had already narrowed her list. It never got to the point where she got an offer from ISU.

Curious as to where you got your facts from. I trust that (1) Logic's coaches with Pacesetter Basketball don't BS me about who's been recruiting her, and (2) I'll go ahead and believe Virginia Johnson's coaches and teammates' parents from Midwest Elite. Both players' camps have told me ISU recruited/offered both.
FYI, Logic's "final four" teams were Stanford, Vandy, Marquette, and Iowa. That's one just Big Ten school and three others. She happend to like a Big Ten school the best, but that's a long way of concluding that she "decided she wanted to play in the Big Ten."
