WBB Recruiting continued...

twist,

I was posting on the fly.
I met the family in Colorado but she is from Minnie.
6'2" and built. Likes the 3 ball but bangs also.
Best buds with Cassie Rochel
Mom and Dad loves the ISU way of things and playing in front of people.
Says she has an Iowa offer along with a few others. Says the Minnie coach just expects all the good Minnie kids to go there but recruiting style sucks!
Was surprised that on her Iowa visit had the Gov of the state there!?

Of course since a 2012 there is no commitment that means anything but just a family that brought it up and spoke highly of coach and program. I would say they are very interested if BF is. Iimagine her list of 8 will probably double at least. Plays on a very good AAu team according to father.

mred,
probably should have PM like someone said but do not post here much.
I told twist I typed too fast for my feeble fingers. She is from Minnie.

Rochel has officially committed to Whisky. Watched her on TV during the MN HS WBB tourney last week - very good player.

I think there have been couple of not-so-pleasant situations @ the Gophers. Since the final four of 2004 (with WNBA talents Lindsay Whalen and Janel McCarville) they haven't been the same. There were also mass exodus in 2006. Plus the style of playing has not been very attractive.

Yup, Gophers were a pick for third place in the Big 10 and finished in 11th. To add insult to injury they were hosting an opening round in their house and couldn't even make the tournament.

What a collection of talent yesterday at the Girls 17U state AAU tournament at Hoover in Des Moines. Stokes and Greenfield looked tremendous, as well as the big three from DM East - Wright, Butts and Gaines.

Getting Greenfield in a Cyclone uniform would be AMAZING. I still stand by my statement that if we get Greenfield and Stokes to come along with Poppens, Prins and Zimmerman we would definitely have BF's first Final Four team.

BTW, everyone I talked to the the Iowa AAU's last weekend said that Greenfield is a very strong ISU lean.

Hope you are right; I have heard the opposite, but my source was indirect (i.e., second-hand). Would be a great recruit for us.

I have heard the same thing about Greenfield leaning towards ISU, and if she comes to ISU, Stokes might be leaning this way too...Greenfield met with Fennelly on Tuesday of this week. Hope it comes to pass.

At Ballard my relative was one of the first to clue me onto Lacey (before she was Aus) and of her going to Iowa State five years back.

My relative is also pretty certain (80% +) Taylor is headed to ISU. My connection has Zimmerman as a best bud on Face Book and working ties to Ballard beyond the typical. So, I have some confidence in what is being told me.

Until its a done deal this is as solid as it gets with the recruiting pressure buffeting Greenfield.

though Duke wasn't the one I was worried about(Stanford), this is from the Duke WBB message boards last week:

"for 2011 assuming no transfers. We are still in the hunt for 6'3" post Elizabeth Williams who is widely considered to be the number one prospect in the 2011 class. However, Williams is a top target for CT as well as all other major programs, so the competition is fierce. On the other hand, Ka'lia Johnson and Chloe Wells both played with Williams on the Boo Williams summer club.

I believe Duke will not take anyone other than Williams for 2011, so I think that the Knight commit effectively rules out Taylor Greenfield a 6'2" sg/sf from Iowa. "

Does anyone have any update on Calli Berna? I found a brief mention on Vype about the double overtime loss to N. Little Rock, ". . Calli Berna, a junior guard who's committed to Arkansas, chipped in 11 points." I didn't find any story announcing the committment, and that seems like an important story that would have been covered in Arkansas.

I also saw that and searched around, finding nothing. Probably a typo. Maybe they confused her with her brother: Colby Berna - Yahoo! Sports

When does the April signing period start and who do we think that Bill will bring in to replace Whit? With only 9 players left we need another body.
