WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Could be. The pre-season ranks are sort of BS. Half popularity contest and half what you did last year. ISU was among those getting votes which was sort of silly in my mind.
Yeah mostly agree but when you have a superteam like LSU there's no doubt about them being ranked #1. I do think S. Carolina is going to be on a mission and am glad Iowa isn't going to run into them until possibly March. The LSU v. S. Carolina games will be fun to watch.

Thinking about it more I think you're right and they will be #1. I hadn't really factored in they dissed SC so bad in the pre-season poll.

With no Cyclone games this week here's a reminder of some good matchups of Big 12 interest plus a couple of ranked teams I think might be good viewing.

Tuesday - #5 Utah at #19 Baylor 6:30 ESPN+
Thursday - #14 Maryland at #2 UConn 5:30 FS1 **
Thursday - Kansas State at #3 Iowa 7:30 FS1
Sunday - Syracuse at #14 Maryland 11:00 am BTN (preview of our Nov. 25th opponent)

** Invited friends over for supper. Guess I'll miss the Brenda/Geno death match.

In advance of the first poll this week ESPN put out their power rankings. South Carolina on top. Iowa at #2. The poll ranks will be interesting. Big 12 next year teams off to a good start.

Lol, at least it gives Staley one less thing to gripe about.

This is true. It's sort of funny how much the elite teams grump about ratings and not being "respected" and all. Top Ten teams favored to make a run at the Final Four shouldn't be allowed to play the disrespect card, it comes off as "worship us for our team is awesome" sort of thing to me.

Actually even teams being underrated should never play the disrespect card. Just go out play and win and don't waste energy worrying about what voters and talking head think.

BTW, man, I'd LOVE to someday see ISU rated #2 but there's an almost zero chance I'll ever see that.

Big 12 teams:
#11 Texas
#21 Baylor
#25 Oklahoma

Kansas State and Kansas in the others receiving votes.

We might only have three or four games versus ranked teams in the regular season unless the Kansas schools break through to the Top 25. Iowa, of course, and expect Texas and Baylor to stay ranked. Not sold on Sooners being ranked by game time with us.

LSU plays Va. Tech on Nov. 30 as part of the SEC/ACC challenge. That'll be a good one.

Random Big 12 note:
Sedona Prince is off to a good start at TCU, averaging 16 PTS and 11 REB. Granted, not versus great competition but still pretty good.

I hate Iowa but watching everyone b***h about them "disrespecting" South Carolina by not even guarding the 3pt line in the Final Four was the funniest thing ever.
Yeah how dare they have a great gameplan to give them the best chance to win?
