WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Gotta say the Hawkeye women look damn good tonight against Louisville.
Bill has his hands full the next few years competing against Bluder’s Hawks.

They will win it all if they hit shots like they are tonight.

Crazy how much better shooters they are than our men’s team. Not even close.

Will be interesting to see how that offense does against that South Carolina defense. Brea Beal is considered to be one of if not the top defender in the country. I wonder if they put her on Clark? I know South Carolina doesn't like all the love Clark gets so have a feeling they will be out for blood in that game.

It doesn't seem to matter what other teams try to do to Clark on def. I am sure UL thought they had a scheme to slow her down. It didn't really matter. She still got her 40 points. If CC, and Marshall and Warnock keep hitting 3's this team is hard to stop. UL tried double teaming CC, but she gets the ball out so quickly to the other shooters. But an Iowa vs S. Carolina game would be fun to watch. I am honestly rooting for the Iowa ladies. I guess that might be heresy around here. It just isn't often a team from Iowa has such a great chance at a national title. Even though I find CC a bit obnoxious, I guess I can overlook that.

Rarified air for the State of Iowa, modern era Final Four teams from Iowa:
  • Drake MBB 1969
  • Iowa MBB 1980
  • Iowa WBB 1993, 2023

Caitlyn Clark is worthy of support from any Iowan. She is an exceptionally talented basketball player (don’t take my word for this - just listen to Steph Curry). She has the swag and scoring of Diana and the vision of Sue.

Having been a die hard Iowa State women’s basketball fan since the late 70s, I have seen the challenging years, the glory years and everything in between.

I get wanting to hate the Hawks when they play the Cyclones, but their team plays a great brand of basketball that has grown the women’s fan base nationally and have done so in a manner that any sports fan should appreciate.

Raising the bar is seldom a bad thing.

Bummer about losing Lexi but hopeful for good things for the Cyclones with the highly rated class coming in next year.

…and finally, good luck to Iowa in the Final Four. Make ALL of Iowa proud.

Oh I agree that CC deserves all of our support. She is a once in a generation talent. If you like great basketball, you can't help but enjoy watching her play. The Iowa team has other good players too though. That is what makes them so tough.

I must admit I was rooting for Iowa, something I never would have done for the men’s team. Clark is amazing and she is from Des Moines. Hopefully they win the whole thing.

I, too, am cheering on Iowa and the Big ten women's squads, something I would not do for the men's side. It would be something to see 3 Big 10 teams make it to the final four. No hard feelings as they have all had good seasons.

I can’t root for Iowa. But CC is definitely amazing. Like it or not she is helluva player!

I asked fellow CFers : would they want CC on the team last time and they said no….. would the answer still be the same now that CC takes EIU to the final four?
