WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Former K-State players/staff (Ethridge, Koehn, Patterson) are the Pac-12 champs with Wazzu.

That Ohio State player must have the strength of Andre the Giant to send Clark flying through the air with just the slight push of the side of her hand.

Earlier in the game I saw one of the Iowa players drive contested into the lane, pause, forcefully body the OSU defender out of the way to get the bucket, and instead of the obvious offensive foul got a foul called on the defender … then on the very next possession at the opposite end, the very same Iowa player clearly fouled a Buckeye on a layup attempt and then looked wide-eyed at the ref, hands upturned, absolutely befuddled that she could possibly have been whistled for a violation. I know that stuff happens in every game all the time, men and women, but it seems like a standard for Iowa basketball for some reason.

Well I hate to say it but Iowa deserves it more than them. They are playing good ball right now, but a good defensive team will beat them. IMO.
Strong disagree. It’s not about the last two weeks. Indianas entire season is better than Iowa’s season.

I won't argue too much but they beat Indiana head to head I thought but could be wrong and won their tourney. If those 2 ideas are right I'll stand by my statement.

Edit looks like they split during the season

They split the regular season meetings. Indiana won the Big Ten regular season title and lost on a buzzer beater in Iowa City. They still finished two games better in the loss column than Iowa despite the two losses down the stretch. The entire season counts

Ay

Any chance they end up a 1 seed?
Lots of good arguments below say no. I think they will. Clark is the face of women’s basketball in the country. She is the best player in the game. Great for WBB that she leads her team as far as possible. B10 is tough. Winning the tourney in a blowout is a big deal. I think they get the fourth #1 seed.

In Iowa's case they beat four ranked teams in their final five games, pretty much peaking again late like they did last year till they clunked versus Creighton. In Indiana's case they have been good all year. Head to head on a neutral court it's a pick'em IMHO. Iowa should move back up to a #2 seed, they had fallen to the first #3 after their clunker at College Park but came back crazy hot since than. The tourney loss doesn't really hurt Indiana in this year of weak #1's.

Nice flop. Still in the game up 30 pts ?

Cyclones have a weird obsession with this considering our own starters minutes. Ryan was in our game Saturday when we were up by 30 midway through the 4th quarter and didn't sub out till under five minutes left. I'd be more concerned than Iowa if we made the final Sunday after playing consecutive days, had to go home to Ames and than road trip Monday or Tuesday somewhere to play the following Friday/Saturday.

Iowa doesn't play again till the first round on March 17th or 18th so they really don't need "rest". I won't like it if we had to sit around without playing for 12-13 days.

Ohio State had come back from a 24 point margin the day prior. Considering that, Iowa undoubtably made the right decision to keep the rotation tight until midway through the fourth. Clark still only played 33min which is less than her season average as well as less than Joens, Ryan, and Donarski's averages, for context.

Usually folks talk about stat padding in relation to points, but Clark only attempted 1 shot in the entire fourth quarter. So, is she not supposed to grab the ball if it bounces to her off the rim, because rebounding in that situation is "stat padding"? Is she not supposed to pass the ball to an open teammate in scoring position because it's selfish for her to get an assist? Like... ?

Can you imagine if Boston gets player of the year?
I would give it to Clark because what she does is stuff not seen in the women’s game. But Boston is the best all-around player in women’s college basketball and it’s really not close. Her offense is great but it’s her defense and presence that put her to another level. Clark defensively is nothing special.
