WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

I didn't realize she had played at Alabama, which means she played against Fennelly/ISU back in the '97-'98 season.
Taylor going A&M was surprising to me. I figured she would be at Georgia as long as she continued to win. However, I'm guessing money talked and she took advantage of the situation.

Sounds like Taiwo was not invited back for her 5th year. I’m sure it creates a scholarship issue with these Covid years
The rumor floating on one of the Hawks message boards was that there would be potentially two more. They are post-heavy next year and some are thinking there could be some movement there. Again, all message board rumors.

It would be hilarious if KF ends up transferring. She has been quite a non-factor for them

They lose two (transfer out), so that takes the roster to 11, but bring in 3, so they will be at 14 on the roster. All five starters return, so I'm not sure that KF picks up a ton more minutes next year. She played back-up guard to Marshall, and Marshall played 2x the minutes KF did. Also, one of their incoming freshman is a SG, so she will be competing for minutes too,

Or not.

What in the musical chairs is going on in the SEC?

I've never figured out why a coach would move to another school in the same league (unless the money was crazy good). The SEC does it all the time in football, and now WBB is seemingly following suit.

Joni Taylor (former Georgia coach) is the new head coach at Texas A&M.

Georgia fans were wondering if this was in the works before the tournament games.

Texas A&M Director of Athletics Ross Bjork and Deputy AD Kristen Brown were sold on Taylor almost immediately after meeting face-to-face.

“The moment that we engaged with Joni, we knew, ‘Okay, we need to meet her face-to-face,” Bjork said. “And then we walked out of the meeting, Kristen and I, with her face-to-face, and I said, ‘Why won’t we hire her? What’s the process going to look like? We need to try to get this done.’”
That was before the NCAA Tournament started. Taylor’s Bulldogs were traveling to Ames as a six-seed. They opened with a 70-54 victory over Dayton. Then they fell to Iowa State on Sunday, 67-44.

“I didn’t want them to lose on Sunday,” Bjork said. “But when that happened, it created the opportunity to get that done as soon as possible. They were on a plane yesterday, and here we are today.”

I believe the previous head coach who just retired was elevated to head coach like Heather. It certainly should make for an easier transition. Wyoming just lost last night to UCLA in the WNIT 82-81 in 3OT.
