WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Do you think it is boring being a UConn WBB fan during conference season? They win nearly every game by 30+ points. The last time they lost a conference game was February 21st, 2023, nearly 3 years ago.
Boring no, but would it be tough to stay engaged at home games? Yes. I wish we could experience that problem some yr.

Rivalry game for the top of the league, and you need this to fill a 7,500-seat arena? Ouch.

That's actually pretty cool. I went down to Okie St a few yrs back and a donor had done this, I went to the tkt office mid afternoon to buy my tkt for the game and instead I got in free, it made me happy. We also got the W that yr.

Vandy up 54-30 over Texas in the 3rd quarter. Game is at Vandy & Vic's coat came off in the 1st half...

First time that I have watched Vandy play. They are looking impressive tonight!

It appears that throwing your players under the bus is the latest trend. Vic didn’t mince words after getting pounded by Vandy. If the team is “soft” isn’t that a coaching issue?
But he didn't say, "They don't deserve to wear the burnt orange uniform, and many of them will not be wearing it next year". LOL

It's easy though to understand the frustration that a coach feels when he sees the players just going through the motions and not putting their all into it. I think what he said should have been directly said to them and not aired in public, because it will often come back to haunt. He makes a point that I'm sure many coaches would agree with when he states that many players of the past who not being paid anything played with more heart than some now days who are getting paid, and some of course are getting big bucks. So many things about NIL and the transfer portal are really hard to accept. AND many feel that it has just ruined the sports world in college.

Things are definitely sorting out. I asked a while back if it was possible to have a 4 way tie. It may be possible because that's where we are right now with 4 teams with 3 losses apiece. Looking at the remaining games here's what I feel is going to happen. And I'm always right except for the few rare occasions when I've been wrong. Even then I was barely wrong and would have been right if everybody would have held up their end of the bargain.

I'm guessing TCU finishes 15-3. WV 14-4. BU 13-5. TT 13-5.

The "basketball Gods" seem to either frown on you or smile on you. I've watched this for years. TCU up until last night had not been receiving many favors from the Gods. Every loss they've had has had some very freakish things happen that caused them to lose by just a point or two. Crazy bounces, crazy calls by the refs, crazy decisions by both coaches and players. But last night they appeared upon the floor like a team ready to prove their rights. It was a beat down.

Baylor on the other hand had received quite a few smiles from the Gods this year until last night. Their wins against Davidson, OSU, ISU, ASU & even Cincy were in many cases just a call, a foul, a bounce, a free throw away from a loss. But last night they played as though they were no better than a 6th place team or worse. The power of the Gods, or should I have said the "power of the Pops" seems to often sway the pendulum.

Big 12 WBB: Where nobody knows what the **** is going to happen.

Arizona State (8-6) needed OT to beat Arizona (2-12).

Colorado is up 30 on BYU in the 4th quarter.

Oklahoma State is up 12 on Tech at halftime.

We obviously got BYUs best of the season…as we did Cincy earlier. Any time a team bats above average and our ladies struggle it’s a recipe for a loss.
Are we getting a team’s best shot or is our defense really that bad? I grabbed every team’s average scoring per game in conference then compared it to when they played ISU. Twelve of thirteen teams have scored above their conference season average when they played ISU. Only last place UCF defied the trend, scoring 52 when they lost in Ames, versus a season average of 56.

When every team scores against you, it’s probably your D, or lack thereof, which is responsible for their “best of season” offensive performances.

We are pretty clearly not good at defense. One thing I’ve noticed is that screens against us are more effective because they know Audi won’t/ can’t come out to guard the player using the screen.

I caught the second half of South Carolina at LSU. It’s hard to believe Mulkey’s LSU has lost 18 straight to USC. LSU had momentum late and Flae’jae Johnson missed a pair of free throws. They wouldn’t have been a close without her, but those were killer.

I think USC’s Tessa Johnson might be my favorite player in the country. She does whatever is needed. I know she never really considered ISU after Rae’s departure but wow - what might have been?

The Sisters aren't giving up any more points than most other teams in the conference at 65 per game overall and 71 in conference play. Now, take into account the BYU, OSU and Cincy games where one, and sometimes two players, were unconscious shooting the ball and that average drops to 68. ISU is right in the middle of the pack in the Big 12. And while ISU gives up a few more points that some teams they are also fourth in margin of victory overall. Was it D or lack thereof in the three games mentioned? If you watched them I would say it was a player doing things they never did before or since. Sometimes the basket just looks huge (like Jada's big night a few weeks back) and that's an aberration versus a lack of defense. Does ISU have a stellar defense. Nope. Just average, but overall the TEAM's margin is excellent.
