WBB: General All-NCAA Thread - Not Team Cyclones Stuff

Change of pace. University of Oregon didn't make the Final Four but Sedona Prince made an appearance. Makes me wish she was still in the Big 12. Might be a downtown Mpls thing with me but was amused by some of the peeps she talked with.

Wonder if all 1084 get picked up or if part of them end up dropping down a division?
Usually some of then have to drop down a division. There was a clip of Geno speaking about student athletes on transfer portal basically saying “some of them, they don’t get picked up and their old coaches don’t want them back”

Like Geno noted, some end up nowhere, at least as scholarship players. He said 300 and he would know better than we do. There will be hundreds without scholarships. Some of the kids in the portal have incredibly modest stats and aren't likely to get Div 1 offers.

Some minor Big 12 stuff. Was not a factor for Sooners after being a 16 ppg starter last year. Started having issues with an "undisclosed condition" pre-season and never got back to previous form. Hopefully she is dealing with that and can bounce back.

The transfer portal appears to be (to players) a Mecca leading to more playing time and greener pastures. As others have posted…it will quickly change to "oh crap, I no longer have a scholarship, I’m still not playing, and life sucks."

People have talked about the extra COVID year hurting incoming freshmen by taking away scholarship slots that would normally be available. But all these transfers in the portal have the same issue. If you have a track record of success, no problem. Otherwise, things might be more difficult.

South Dakota hires Drake assistant, who had also spent time at USD before that.

She also played for Green Bay, and put up 29 on ISU in GB's NCAA loss in Hilton.

That's a solid program, northing wrong with that for a job.

Saw that the U of Minn. has cancelled their WBB banquet.
Does ISU still have one? I remember going to them quite a few yrs ago, it was a nice event held in Hilton if I remember right.

With how many transfers that they have this off-season, their banquet would have been weird that probably there would be just 4-5 players probably?
