***WBB: 2026 Recruiting Thread***

Imagine the guy from Iowa City being a big critic of Iowa State WBB.
I joined CF in 2006 and I'm still here sharing my thoughts and opinions. I lived in Iowa City for 27 years because my work territory was the eastern half of Iowa. The Joens girls went to the high school I watched, which increased my activity on the WBB board. I no longer live in Iowa City, having relocated to be near our adult children and young grandchildren. My former place of residence has little to do with my opinions on ISU WBB, but your quick hitter got you a couple "likes", which seems to be what drives many of the omnipresent posters on this site.

I'm just sharing my opinion that I thought ISU could "aim a little higher" and "push all the chips in" for CBF's anticipated last season. I had a "model" in my head of the type of player ISU should recruit. Instead (IMO), the staff is "playing it safe" to ensure another middle of the pack twenty win season - we'll win at least twelve games in the powder-puff preseason schedule then get eight conference wins in a weakened Big XII. Surely I can't be the only one who's a little underwhelmed, but the popular thing to do on CF is pump sunshine and flowers.

I do really wonder what they are being told as to the coaching situation. They have to be in the know one way or the other.
Once everyone left and Bill was staying, I honestly thought that Bill may want to adjust his retirement timeline to increase the recruitment pool. It was going to be difficult to find 10+ quality players with one year of eligibility left. One way to make recruiting easier is plan to coach multiple years. I hope not, but I can see the logic.

If there's a trend with the commits it seems they are weekend dependent. Will we see another bout of them next end of week after visitors arrive Thurs./Sat?

Brent on W&B hinted at an idea I'd not considered. Maybe Bill is attempting to give whoever follows him a more than a bare cupboard. It seems a bit optimistic too me, but it at least gives Bill the benefit of the doubt and acknowledges that he really does love ISU.

If Bill wants to adjust his retirement timeline beyond next season, JP must agree to it as well and I am under the impression that agreement isn't mutual.

He’s gonna have to have a couple home runs here soon or next year could be really rough

Also. Since we live in probably the most selfish era of college athletics, can he please put the freaking names back on the jerseys?
For some reason that really bothers me. I mean, I get the old coaching philosophy There’s no I in team but holy cow…. There’s definitely an I in team now a days.
Just put the names back on.
Our jerseys do look like a P5 teams' practice jerseys

"Back on"?

When were names on the back of WBB jerseys?

Where are the ‘chips’ coming from?
Jamie indicated CBF would get the necessary funds to restock the team, plus there’s the $ previously allocated to Audi, Addy and Jada. ISU has more to sell than just cash on the barrel head. I looked at the box score for LaSalle vs Loyola, a game involving two of our recruits played in front of 405 fans. Come to Ames where you’ll play in front of 5000 plus every game. It’s not all about the money for all of these young women.

NAME, image and likeness. It's the first one in the list. I really don't understand why team leaves the player's name off the jersey. You would think the agents would demand it was there.

In the last week he got a commitment from a 2027 recruit and commitments from two transfers that will be sophomores. Why do that if you are retiring?

Related to the transfers, Bill needs to fill out a roster for 2026-27 and he can't be choosy.

Regarding Snoozy, I am assuming Bill's lame duck contract status didn't matter to her.

Harvey, Bessette, Connor and Babbit appear to give us a more than capable group of guards with actually more size than what we had. Are any of them Jada probably not, but they appear to be great replacements for Hare, Harris, Beatty, Wilson and Tanke.

Then add in Camito. There’s some real talent there.
