Weird stats from the game:
FG%: York 33% (21% 3pt); MBA 59% (100% 3pt -- 4-4)
Turnovers: York 5, MBA 18
FGA: York 45, MBA 27

Also weird: the box score calls her "Makenna Beaty". Perhaps Reese is her middle name? It was like when a box score would say "Nicole Blaskowsky".

There's a lot of stuff out there referring to her as Makenna Beaty, so it's clearly not an error. There's even an article that calls her Reese and has a photo of her captioned Makenna. So I'm going with the middle name theory.

York wins 60-45. Beaty with 30, I believe. York was able to stay ahead by double-digits (or very nearly) the entire half.

York plays Westview in the championship tomorrow at 1:30. Westview is 30-1 and won their two state tournament games by 18 and 25 points.

Down to the wire. York was up 39-38 when Westview got a three-point play with 50 seconds left. The crucial thing is that foul was on Beaty, and it was her 5th.

I love who York is named after. I remember reading about Alvin York's story when I was in elementary school. It’s a great story!

Wouldn't touch that family with a ten-foot pole - dad is a major helicopter parent.
Her dad deleted the tweet but heard Eickholt mention on KXNO last night that he tweeted something about asking if there is was a website a player can go to enter the portal because the school was not helping them do it. I think this was before she announced she was going to the portal too? Yeah sounds like a headcase

Still makes me shake my head to think she is a guard and a state shotput champion.
I had forgotten about that. And your post actually understates things: she's a 3-time defending shot put champion and a 2-time defending discus champion.

State T&F Championship results:

Freshman year:
Shot 42-08.25 (1st)
Discus 102-09 (3rd)

Sophomore year:
Shot 39-04.50 (1st)
Discus 116-05 (1st)

Junior year:
Shot 38-04.25 (1st)
Discus 125-00 (1st)

This is Class A (small schools) but still...
