So why do you think the reason is we are not getting "the athletes"?
I think part of it is that typically we start three sophomores this year. That means that upcoming Freshmen looking for major playing time look at Iowa State and think it might be yhe third year before they can start. We only have one senior. So everyone except Ryan can return for next year.

Completely forgot about this game. NFHS does have it on demand so I'll watch a replay. York won 48-12, so probably not much to see.
Yep, nothing too exciting. Westmoreland was very overmatched against York. York didn't shoot particularly well, but they didn't need to. Beaty with 19 points -- threes weren't falling for her but the mid-range game was on fire. She left the game for good midway through the 3rd.

Next game is 7pm Wednesday. That one is NOT win or go home -- it basically just determines whether they play Saturday at home or on the road. Saturday game is also 7pm. Winning teams on Saturday qualify for state.

Jackson County won the late game, so they'll be York's opponent on Wednesday. York beat Jackson Co. by 27 at home while Beaty was out, and by 29 on the road after Beaty's return.

I was thinking this was tonight instead of last night, and also I forgot until just now. I'll watch a replay, but York won 67-44 with Beaty scoring 34.

York plays Pearl Cohn at home Saturday at 7pm for a chance to go to state.

I haven't been able to watch this live because of other obligations, but I did a quick peek in at the game and York is up 52-21 in the third. I believe they said 29 points for Beaty. I plan to watch on demand tomorrow.

York must play terrible teams.

Pearl Cohn was 16-9 this season and played well enough to make the sectional round. But this is class 2A (second-smallest out of 4 classes), with private schools in an entirely separate division. So this would be similar to class 2A in Iowa with all private schools removed.

Does anyone know why ISU didn't get involved with Libby Fandel from CR Xavier, 6-1 wing who signed with KU and completely dominated last week's 4A tourney in one of more impressive 3 games performances at state in recent years. She would appear to fill the roster void of a long athletic wing where instead Bill signed two guards for 2025, both 5-10 or shorter. Played for AIA. Also an all-state VB player.

Next game is the state quarterfinals. Game is Wednesday around 8:45 pm central (last game of four) at MTSU. York's opponent is Memphis Business Academy High School.

York won tonight, looks like ISU staff was in attendance.

I keep forgetting about these games until after they are over. York won a tight one 44-43. Looks like MBA hounded Beaty as much as possible -- she didn't score until late in Q3.

You can see in this clip MBA trying to double her when she touches the ball.

It made me chuckle that a school called Memphis BUSINESS would be abbreviated MBA. Ok…I have a weird sense of humor.
