The best All Iowa Attack GBB team (aka 11th Elite) just won the Battle of the Best Tournament in Des Moines. The team features three ISU targets in Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda (2022), Kelsey Joens (2023) and Sahara Williams (2023) with three TOE 2022 commits Hannah Stuelke (ESPN #39), Jada Gyamfi (ESPN #77) and Taylor McCabe (ESPN #98). Hopefully we get our three targets to restore the balance.

The best team of All Iowa Attack GBB, aka 11th Elite continues its hot streak in the summer AAU tour. After surviving in the semi-final early today, they blew out their opponent in the final and won the championship of the Nike Elite Youth Tournament of Champions. The team is full of steam heading to the Nike Nationals in Augusta in late July.

By the way, our WBB coaching staff is also in Chicago recruiting. It's very nice to see AD Camber again.

Since the restriction is lifted, Coach Fen and Coach Brenda Frese finally met in person on the recruiting trail.

Added Mackendra Konig, joining Mwenentanda at level 3. She's the younger sister of Aislinn Konig (2020 NC State grad and 2021 Team Canada alternate). Konig is going to high school in Washington state, but I believe she is a Canadian national and she has Austrian roots -- she played for Austria's U16 national team in 2019 and plays for a Canadian AAU team.

Here's the latest highlights of Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda. She's a right-handed player but she uses her left hand very well. She's also an intelligent passer.

I'm sorry to report our 2022 top target Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda has decided to be a Longhorn. (Horns down!!!) This is really a big bummer as I really wish we could get her. As of now, our 2022 recruiting class doesn't look very good and I hope the coaching staff can find some good talents soon. Might need some mojo from our MBB recruiting.

For reference, among the 2022 ESPN TOP 100 players, Texas got #29 Ndjakalenga Mwenentanda, #53 Amina Muhammad, #59 Jordana Codio. Iowa got #39 Hannah Stuelke, #77 Jada Gyamfi, #98 Taylor McCabe. All three Iowa recruits are from All Iowa Attack AAU team and they played really well in the Nike National Championship last month.

That's one thing I won't miss is Vic going to the SEC. He was going to make life hard in the big 12. Mulkey leaving really opened things up for him. We can play tough with anyone for the most part but Vic was/is going to do well at recruiting and probably coaching at TX. They money whipped him to come there but I think it will work out not like their FB coaches so far.

Are we seeing the recruiting effects of the B12 unknown?

No, at least not in my opinion, it's too soon for that but it's likely to start impacting things for us. This class, so far, doesn't look like much but the recruiting cycle had run a lot of it's course before the Big 12 news broke. I'm saying that because it doesn't look like we are on to someone high ranked and waiting (say like in 2020 for Clark to make a call). Also, nobody but Texas and OU knew they were going to drop that bomb on the Big 12 until a few weeks ago. Poor recruiting classes don't happen in a matter of weeks, they are a couple of years in the making.

Our good classes aren't an annual thing and are sort of cyclical. We had a really good class in 2020 and what looks to be an okay one in 2021 (but far from being heralded). Throw in the extra year players are getting and transfer mania and this is an odd year. With that said it would be better to have three verbal's to try and keep rather than verbal's left to even obtain right now. The other thing to keep in mind is what is left of recruiting for 2022 might not start till March with transfers from other universities. Now, that transfer cycle will be impacted by the uncertainty of the Big 12 for any really good players, IMHO.

Ladine is a 5-11 guard from northern California (bay area) and has offers from many Pac-12 schools among others. Looking online, it seems that her offer from ISU probably was more than a month prior to the above tweet, but I don't have an exact date.
